This was just posted by Willy Freeman who works as a line handler at the Dockyard:

The Norwegian Dawn will depart tomorrow morning at 0600. They are working on the Azipods and need some more time.

When I did the Dawn to Bermuda in 2010 we left 12 hrs early as we had to crawl back due to an "engine issue"

Where do you find this facebook page? I think I had it a couple of years ago but can't find it now.

I remember those days too. Celebrity Zenith (or was it the Horizon) would dock overnight at St. George and then move to the Royal Dockyard. It was if Bermuda had two port stops. That itinerary stuck around for quite a few years too :)

I did it on the Horizon back in 1993. We loved going from Hamilton to St George.

I just peeked too: http://portbermudawebcam.com/

NOAA: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/gtwo.php?basin=atlc&fdays=2

If the Captain called an extra day to be on the safe side of a storm, bravo! I'd just want to know :)

I doubt it's weather related. If the Captain on the Grandeur found it safe to sail (currently sailing out of the port of Bermuda) then why would the one on the Dawn want to be extra cautious? IMHO Dawn is a far better/stable ship than the rinky dink Grandeur.

Here - the good "old" days @ St. George

Both the Crown & Majesty docked -

We're rocking & rolling then - on our way out and back - with the smaller ship, but, thinking about it - lots of fun to enjoy dinner in the half empty MDR ... free Room Service was very busy, LOL.

Thanks for the lovely memory of the Majesty in Bermuda. We so loved that ship.:D

The weather explanation doesn't seem right to me, either. You figure that NCL is not making any money though the casino or shops while the ship is in port. They'd make more money floating around than they will docked. Strange.

For those wanting to experience Bermuda like it used to be, you can still go to Hamilton for three nights on HAL's Veendam out of Boston. It's great to dock right on Front Street. The Veendam was supposed to also call at St. George, but after its mod a few years back, it was deemed a bit too close a call to squeeze into that channel...

I'd Go for a LOVE button if the went back to the old 4 days in Bermuda. :D

The old ships NCL Dream & and NCL Majesty stayed longer ( 4 days 3 nights ) when we docked in St. George.

Dawns Faster then them old ships Too.

Chief Engineer sez she does 25 knots.

.

Agree, and the Veendam is currently staying a day more and she is an older and smaller ship.

Lol if only we could take our "middle aged" kids as kids sail free:D

You can. It's Friends and Family Sail Free or 50% off - not KSF. We had 3 adults kids with us in the H4 on the Breakaway for just port taxes and fees last September and they all had the UBP right along with us. Just DH and I had $300 OBC and the UDP. That was a great promo and cruise last year. :D

Willie the web cam operator says its azipod problems and that she is leaving at 6 AM.

And she did. I just peeked at the cam. Breakaway is on it's way. The ships will be waving to each other as they cross paths.
