caribill Posted August 5, 2015 #26 Share Posted August 5, 2015 No annual fee and points don't expire. I am unsure about whether available to Canadians. Unused points do expire after five years. Also must use the card at least once every six months or the points will disappear.

Iamcruzin Posted August 5, 2015 #28 Share Posted August 5, 2015 You can't use it for the Celebrity cruise but you could use it toward airfare if you are flying to the port :) Thanks I don't plan on taking a Princess cruise any time soon. I believe most of my 40,000 points will expire soon. I did notice on the site that they are redeemable for gift cards to restaurants, stores and gas stations. The even have one for Amazon. I will probably look into that.

I was able to redeem enough points for 2 round trip flights to Florida. Unfortunately there isn't a cruise connected to these flights but my in laws where happy that we are able to visit unexpectedly. I'm just happy that I was able to redeem these points before they expired. Thanks again Mike Edited September 10, 2015 by Iamcruzin
Iamcruzin Posted September 10, 2015 #30 Share Posted September 10, 2015 Why can't you purchase a Celebrity cruise with a Princess Visa? You can and I did.
sunshine nana Posted September 10, 2015 #31 Share Posted September 10, 2015 Are you sure there is still a "bonus" added on when you reach 40,000 points? There was when I first got the card, but then I was told they did away with it.

Carole_T Posted September 10, 2015 #33 Share Posted September 10, 2015 I don't want to use it for OBC I want the $500 credit posted to the credit card. I'm thinking that I can book a Princess cruise use the booking number to get the credit and then cancel the cruise. And when you cancel the cruise, won't they just cancel your credit? My non-Princess credit card gives me cash back for purchases and the couple of times I canceled the purchase, they took back the credit!

jgpdx Posted September 10, 2015 #35 Share Posted September 10, 2015 Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh....... the old FRAUD option. That's sure to be a winner. I have a Carnival card and the sea miles are cashed out to pay for part (or all) of a cruise (can use on any Carnival Corp. line). So if you cancel, you get $ back but not miles. But minimal deposit still lost. So what would be the point?
cruiser113 Posted September 10, 2015 #36 Share Posted September 10, 2015 Just checked the Barclay web site and the drop down box shows 30,000 points =$300 credit and 40,000 points =$500 so that option is still available. We love this card and do cruise several times per year. We gift our self casino credit that gets us double points and pay for FCC as well as all cruises with this card. After our cruise this November we will have $1000 that we will apply to our bill when we return. No foreign transaction fee is a plus as well as no annual fee. They sometimes offer promotions as the current one we are using . From July 1- Sept 30, double points up to 2500 bonus points. ($1250 spent) in supermarkets , drug stores and electronic stores. Well on our way to extra points. If we ever stop cruising ( highly unlikely) we would choose to use other cards that would be of more benefit. In the past we have waited until 40,000 points to get the $500 credit. Have been very pleased with their customer service over the years.

I have tons of points that are likely going to expire since I have no Princess cruise booked at the moment. I went to the Barclay site but couldn't find any useful info. I have tons of points that are likely going to expire since I have no Princess cruise booked at the moment. I went to the Barclay site but couldn't find any useful info. Thanks! --Ellen Log on to your account and click on redeem rewards. A menu with Princess awards will come up. Select airfare discounts. The next page will be a picture of an airplane, underneath will be a link for discount airfare. click on that. That will bring you to a drop down menu to choose how many points that you want to redeem. Select the points and follow the directions on the next page. They will want the booking information so you will have to book your flight first. After you process the request you will see a credit of the dollar amount you chose. In my case I redeemed 40,000 points and received a $400 credit to my statement in the next billing cycle. I did use the card to book my flight but there is no indication that it was required. I'm pretty sure that I could have used a different credit card. Edited September 11, 2015 by Iamcruzin
ellenh Posted September 11, 2015 #40 Share Posted September 11, 2015 Thanks Mike. I'll try it. I never realized that an airfare credit was an option. Great to know!
Iamcruzin Posted September 11, 2015 #41 Share Posted September 11, 2015 Thanks Mike. I'll try it. I never realized that an airfare credit was an option. Great to know! Neither did I until Shelly97060 brought it to my attention. When I was poking around I also found that you can redeem the points for gift cards for stores, restaurants and for items like luggage. You get the best value by redeeming them for a cruise. 40,000 points would have given me a $500 dollar credit for a Princess cruise. All I had to is enter a booking number and $500 would have come off of my credit card balance the same way it did for the airline tickets. The trip to Florida is only costing me $32 for the two of us and at least my points won't expire.
pcur Posted October 10, 2015 #42 Share Posted October 10, 2015 I'm thinking of getting one of these Princess credit cards. I'm a little confused after reading this thread as to what the points will get me. It says the bonus 5,000 points will get a $50 obc, but I've read here that an obc requires a much higher point balance. What can 15,000 points be used for? Thanks! Some other choices besides the 5,000 = $50 OBC 10,000 = $100 OBC 10,000 = $100 cruise discount 15,000 = $150 spa credit Best return IMO is 60,000 points for $750 credit as a cruise discount. This is what I usually redeem my points for.

MickeyandLV Posted October 10, 2015 #45 Share Posted October 10, 2015 I recently received an offer from the card that if I spend $750 each month for October, November and December, I will receive 10,000 bonus points. I have already spent the October amount and I am going to Disneyland in November and the final payment for the next cruise is due in December. That is an easy 10,000 points and I get credit for the purchases. Since the one purchase will be a Princess cruise which is double points, I feel that it is a good deal. We put EVERYTHING on it and pay it off monthly. You get one point for every dollar spent on purchases or two points for every dollar spent with Princess. We have used points for OBC, airfare, and discounts on cruises ( I like using it for cruise discounts so that is primarily what we do now). We find it is very easy to cash in the points. We have been very happy with the card. Shelly Does anyone know how to use this credit card to get discounts off cruises?
