Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted August 13, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2015 Does anyone know if the Ocean Princess offers... Bingo? Comedian? Movies? Game shows? Has anyone done the Christmas Caribbean Connossieur cruise specifically, and if so, what was the entertainment like?

fishywood Posted August 13, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 13, 2015 (edited) To answer your last question: the small ship Connoisseur cruises are done very infrequently out of Florida, the last one run a few Januarys ago only because Pacific Princess' drydock was cancelled at the last minute; can't remember if one was done over the Holidays in the current millennium. As for entertainment, the cruise director's staff double as the company of singers and dancers (beyond one featured male and one female vocalist) so the production shows will feature lots of awkward shuffling and lip-syncing. It is more that the dancers, who are trained as much as their counterparts on the larger ships, double as cruise staff. Some of the better shows we have seen have been on the small ships. The lip synching by the dancers is normal even on the larger ships as they were hired to dance, not sing. The lead singers do not lip synch unless too ill to sing. emmak8 Posted August 13, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 13, 2015 You can enjoy a smaller ship as much as a larger one.

Because the dancers also work as cruise staff, you end up developing a relationship with them. As such, when you attend their show in the small theater of the OP, they work very hard to put on a good performance. On the large ships one rarely sees the dancers and singers out and about and I sometime perceive an aura of aloofness from them during their performances. Maybe it's because they don't get much of an opportunity to know the passengers.

Just letting the OP know there will only be two featured vocalists rather than six. And on my one long-ago small ship Princess cruise the CD made an endless running joke of his "singing and dancing cruise staff" which quickly grew real unfunny. For at least one show they didn't even have costumes, they just went on stage and Milli-Vanilli'd in their regular cruise staff clothing.
