ImpulsivePuppy Posted August 14, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2015 Does a Suite GTY include Junior Suites or is it certain suite categories and above? If so, which category is the smallest suite they would assign you? Thanks in advance...
fischymom Posted August 14, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2015 I believe it is Jr Suite and up.
uncle John Posted August 14, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 14, 2015 'W' is all suites . Js and up. That is how I received my JS on Oasis last time.
ImpulsivePuppy Posted August 14, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted August 14, 2015 Thanks you very much! So the Junior Suites do not get any of the 'suite' perks, correct? You are essentially taking a chance on maybe getting the perks that come with a suite if you book this category then, correct?
MADflyer Posted August 14, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 14, 2015 There is always a chance with a W of getting a higher suite. It is interesting that sometimes the category description will read, W, Suite GTY and other times it will actually say W, Junior Suite GTY. Sometimes these are assigned directly and other times as late as at the pier. While you sometimes get a prime JS as they upgrade someone else to make room for you, they most often grant only JS. blueblock Posted August 14, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 14, 2015 (edited) Given the number of junior suites versus the number of other kinds of suites, odds are that you will get a junior suite. Also, Royal might want that unsold better suite to bump up a Pinnacle or Diamond Plus guest to. My advice would be, don't book a Category W unless you would be perfectly happy to sail in a junior suite - and then you might be pleasantly surprised to get something better. ImpulsivePuppy Posted August 14, 2015 Author #7 Share Posted August 14, 2015 THank you all. Presently booked in a balcony cabin on deck 8. There are 4 of us (DW, DS8, and DS11) so I know we will be tight in there so wondering about booking a W GTY just for the extra room. However, we really like the location of our current cabin, midship, next to the cafe, central park, etc. So trying to weigh whether a Jr Suite in a not-as-great location would be desirable to the regular cabin in a terrific location. We have never been on RCCL before so not familiar with their cabins.
cb at sea Posted August 14, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 14, 2015 (edited) A JS will give you a bunch more space ...a bit over 100sq. ft! That's pretty comfortable ! Even without the "suite" perks, a JS is a GREAT way to cruise! Edited August 14, 2015 by cb at sea
molly361 Posted August 14, 2015 #9 Share Posted August 14, 2015 It is going to be really tight with 4 in a balcony cabin on an Oasis class ship. Hard call. I would probably change if the $$ is not too much
uncle John Posted August 14, 2015 #10 Share Posted August 14, 2015 4 people in a balcony vs a JS no doubt in my mind. GO FOR THE "W"" you will be so much more comfortable inside and on the balcony.

Rare brillohead Posted August 14, 2015 #12 Share Posted August 14, 2015 Definitely go for the W if the money is within your budget. I wouldn't want to do more than three in one regular room, even with kids. In addition to more room to spread out, the walk-in closet will double as a changing room, so that you can all get ready at the same time while still having privacy. ARCruisinNana Posted August 14, 2015 #14 Share Posted August 14, 2015 If "W" gty is available for 4 people, that would be well worth the extra money. On most ships, a "W" gty is only available for 2 people.

On most ships, a "W" gty is only available for 2 people. I agree that it might well be worth the money. It is unusual to be able to book a W for four, so whole contemplating the decision, the OP should place a hold on that W pronto. It would be a pity if the W for 4 disappeared while their party talks it over
ImpulsivePuppy Posted August 14, 2015 Author #16 Share Posted August 14, 2015 Hmmm... It's almost $2K more for the W GTY. That seems a little too steep to justify.
39august Posted August 14, 2015 #17 Share Posted August 14, 2015 Wow! I agree that is way too much. But prepare to be very cramped with 4 in a balcony.
