12 year old Diamond cruiser that received no respect!

Recommended Posts

Seeing as how I have already had my allotment of popcorn for today, I do not have time to read all of the replys. My question is if he seen it was taped to the wall and is as grown up as he seems to be why did he not question someone before playing the game? Or why in the hell did he play it at all?

Thank you for the nice compliment for our son. He was playing the game where you 'push' up/down to push a prize through. We have actually had the 'claw' rip off and not ever playing those! lol

So, you're smart enough to know that the "claw" game is a ripoff, but then you assume that another arcade game of the same ilk is totally legit?

And you allow a child to post on a message board about it using your account?

Glad you're not going to be cruising Royal anymore... I'd hate to be on the same ship as you and your family.

that's easy to say after the win didn't happen

Geri - Our son is NOT a SPOILED BRAT. In fact, he is an honor roll student, Boy Scout, well rounded and very mature young man. The prize was Taped to the wall so no one could win it. We have encouraged our son to let his voice be heard so that people would know what is going on in the 'teen' area and how our children are being treated on RCCL.

Please keep in mind by saying such RUDE things to children is RUDE on your behalf.

Claw games are all rigged. They are not games of skill as one would be lead to believe but games of chance. It is shady to tape a prize so it can't be won. That is disappointing. Sorry that your son learned the hard way but appreciate him spreading the word to alert others.

I won't bother with other comments in here since I'd bet my life they are vile and disgusting.

Still waiting to see the picture of the alleged taped item that was taken to prove it was a rip off. This entire post is a joke.

They posted two pictures. It's too glarey for me to see anything, though.

I think this is one of those games where you slot something into a spot and if you do it successfully you get to push the item. Every time that happens and it's pushed it gets closer and closer. This time with the push it should have dropped, but because it had tape on it it didn't.

I would have either continued to play OR would have gotten an employee to help figure it out.

BUT I would also wonder if minors are allowed to play those games?

When I contacted the casino staff who supports the arcade, they did NOTHING. Then I contacted customer service/guest services, they did nothing, then I wrote a letter to corporate. They did nothing but sent me what I learned was a "form letter."

Did you ever ask someone to go with you to look at it? Or have your parents come along with you to ask?

Unfortunately, he will also learn how people get treated online, and here on CC. Sad that people are so rough even on a 12-year-old.

It's probably a big reason why message board creators don't want young children and teens on their boards.

I don't feel he was a brat either... I shame RCCL for rigging the machine that way knowing they would never give out the prize.

I saw Casio G-Shocks rigged where they could not be won on Freedom a couple months ago.

He certainly was no more snooty than other adult diamond members on here from time to time... (not implying all are, but some are.) Heck, I may even come across as a snooty platinum member.

He did not win it, he did push it in the game, and if it weren't taped, it would have fallen and he Would have won it.

So if he didn't win it, and he clearly knew it was taped, then how is this cheating on RCI's behalf?

Sorry if I sound confused here, but bashing RCI over something so petty sounds wrong. This should be a "life is rough" lesson. Instead of a "go after RCI" instigation. Especially at 12 years old.

What sounds petty to me is a HUGE company being so petty, as to not allow a win, over a relatively cheap game prize.

wrong. most discussion boards have a minimum age(usually 13) to be allowed to have a screen name and post. also I have yet to find a message board that permits more than on person to share the same account/screen name.

...go to a dictionary and look up Pathos...

allowing multiple people to post under one account is against policy.

Many people here have signatures with two peoples names, two people in the avatar photos; etc. I see no difference here and am at a loss why you are singling this person out.

It shouldn't be taped to prevent people from winning.

No.....but if the person knew it was taped before playing, then there should be no complaining if they don't win it.

And the 12 yr old said he won it. Which isn't true.

I think the problem with the OPs original post was that he came out swinging and ranting. There was no real explanation from the parents until several posts after, and although I am sure the kid is right in that he was ripped off, I don't know if he picked the right forum (or format) to do it. The parents later said they were trying to let him warn other parents -- and I think that's a good thing to know before letting my own kids waste money at the arcade -- but it's a good lesson in posting on forums too. If you come out blazing, unfortunately some people will blaze back. Might be good to let your 12 year old calm down and help him/her compose a more mature, thought out post before posting to an adult forum. He has a right to be PO'd for getting ripped off, but he's raging at the wrong crowd.

And I was right too. The regular crew of mean and judgmental people. Now back to your regularly scheduled program of cruise line loyalists using a kid as a punching bag.

Well said. We're talking about a stupid arcade game!

Agreed. Even though the parent(s) chimed in later, still, the child claimed he was going to make his family choose another cruise line in future. I think for the time being, the parents who pay for their child to cruise absolutely have the right to choose the cruise line.

And sorry, I still don't understand how Sammy can claim he won the iPad mini; if the answer was already stated, I didn't see it...

When I was enjoying myself in the arcade I won an IPad Mini. But it was TAPED TO THE SIDE OF THE CONTAINER so no one can win it...

Royal almost certainly HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THESE GAMES AT ALL

a third party is the culprit. and maybe GS does not have any authority or means to handle any complaints. hell they may not even have any contact information to give the affronted guest tocomplain TO.

every vending machine has a sign on it saying that the business the machine is located in is not responsible for giving out refunds or handling disputes. I have seen this sign in soda machines candy machines and yes the claw machines.

I cannot tell from the pictures whether or not the iPad in question really was 'rigged' so that under no circumstances could it be retrieved.

I'm fairly certain he didn't know it was taped until he knocked over the box and it didn't fall.

Just another Saturday night on CC! Sorry, kid, but, as your parents can teach you, games like that are rigged. I'm sorry you thought you won and then you didn't. I hope you continue cruising your whole life, I wish I was cruising when I was 12! :D
