San Francisco Chinatown restaurant

Recommended Posts

There is really only one place I would go to in SF Chinatown, but they don't serve dim sum: http://www.rnglounge.com/. The basement is causal and upstairs is more formal (white table cloths), same menu.

For dim sum this place about 1/2 a block away down an alley: http://cityviewdimsum.com/; open for lunch only.

Another place for dim sum, but not in Chinatown, but close by is http://www.yanksing.com/home.php.

The good Chinese restaurants are outside of Chinatown; the even better ones are outside of the city.

Where is a good restaurant to go to in San Francisco Chinatown? Moderately priced where you can make a reservation for lunch .

Not really.

Most of the really good Chinese restaurants are out in the Richmond and Sunset Districts.

Yank Sing in the Financial District is the best dim sum close to Chinatown.

In a pinch Great Eastern will do. The link below might help. It is a top question from TripAdvisor about Chinese Restaurants.

To the OP: If you have the time, venture out to the Richmond District. The current favorite is Hong Kong Lounge II at Geary & Parker Street. It's across the street from one of the original Mel's Diner locations.

Thanks for the replies. we are coming in on a cruise ship and will be taxing to only two places in San Francisco and Chinatown was going to be one of them. Not sure what to do now ,so Richmond is out of the question. We were looking to do lunch in Chinatown. Been to San Francisco many, many times and never have really gone to Chinatown. Maybe will take one of the suggestions mentioned for lunch in Chinatown thanks again .

Golden Star (good Vietnamese food in Chinatown)

The House (great food - technically in North Beach - but it's across the street from Chinatown)

I consider The House to be the one of the best, if not the best, restaurant in the City.
