Why I Prefer RCCL

Recommended Posts

While nobody is perfect. and there are certainly things I dont like about RCCL. I thought (since this came up in a recent post) I would share what I really like about them.

1. Love LOVE LOVE the layout of the freedom class ships and the oasis class ships

2. Love The Club Royal Players program. LOVE

3. Love that they have many good alternative food choices as opposed to going to the MDR

4. LOVE the crown loft suites on Oasis class

5. Love the diamond discounts and the new internet packages. Very affordable to stay in touch

6. Love Labadee I think its a beautiful place for a beach day

7. Coastal Kitchen is my new all time favorite place. Will spend the extra money on a suite just so I can go.

your thoughts?

I agree with that. Don't use #2

I would add that rci is very dependable and we always know what we are getting. Also, that they are always looking ahead and adding/trying new things with the ships. The crews are wonderful. Who would have thought at our age we would be using a flow rider, zip line and Rockwall, great ships that challenge the way we vacation.

We can go to any bar we want and get a drink with no upcharge in the evenings with the coupon

I have cruised twice with RCCL and have not experienced all that you have.

1 loved the FOS but did not care for having to pass the elevators when going from the pool deck to the Windjammer. It could get very congested at times.

3 of the options I tried, I've enjoyed them.

6 Loved Labadee and looking forward to going again next year

I found my two cruises to be great for my family. Lots of activities. Good entertainment. Excellent service.

Loved the fact that the casino is hidden (and the smoke) on the Oasis.

Love the C&A perks, even at gold!

After many years of cruising with RCI and tried to cruise PCL once....I missed the familiarity and comfort level of RCI....so that's what I prefer.

It's the same for me, I know what I get with RCCL. I've traveled other lines but my level of comfortability with RCCL makes me timid to book other lines.

I've branched out quite a bit and for the first time in many years, I will not have done a RCI cruise this year.

However, nothing has wowed me like RCI ships, RCI's entertainment or the D+ program including all the awesome perks.

Sorry, folks, but after 9 Princess and 7 RCI cruises, I do prefer the better perks, ambiance, layout, food, service and overall 'class' of Princess.

Unlike those who have not had similar opportunities to compare, I know whereof I speak. As I've not been on Oasis class, however, I am giving RCI one more chance on the Harmony TA next October, but ... we'll see. I also think Celebrity is better than RCI.

Hey Baba,

you have nothing to be sorry for. You are 100% entitled to like what you like. However, I do think you have missed the point of this thread.

As do I, including having sailed Princess' newest ship. Don't apologize...your opinion is your opinion. I just happen to not agree with it, especially when this is Princess' idea of a balcony:

I'd rank Princess 3rd behind Royal and Celebrity but I haven't been on the new ships yet so maybe we'll 'give them one more chance' too. ;)

Sorry, what IS the point of this thread? I just came upon it by chance when looking for my roll call.

p.s. I hope your signature comments weren't directed at me. I'm trying to contribute by sharing my experience. I truly hope you don't block all who disagree with you.

Love the entertainment in general, best of any line we have cruised and we cruised many of them

Love the ice show

Love diamond perks and suite perks

Just consider this best all around cruise line ( doesn't mean we will not look and book others)

Re: Balconies

I guess it depends on the ship, class of balcony stateroom, etc. On the Explorer last month to Dubai, my balcony was much bigger than the one in an Owner's Suite! Go figure.

Once, I had a decent-sized balcony on Princess (2 chairs and a small table, but not like the tiny balcony in your photo), and my son had an inside. Then, he got upgraded to a huge balcony (4 chairs and large table), and I was not amused, especially as I had paid his fare!

Okay, I accidentally found this thread, had a look and put in my two cents worth. Now I have to get back to the threads for the cruises I'm booked on.

Enjoy your travels, and do try different ships, routes, countries, etc. I, for one, will never do a Caribbean cruise again because, to me, it's just island-hopping, not sailing. I love sea days! But ... to each, his or her own! Can anyone recommend a good ship for South-East Asia? It's hard to find one that goes everywhere I want to go, and I don't want to do it twice.

Happy Sails to You,

Baba

p.s. Going back a few years now, but the best entertainment I've seen so far was on the Nowegian Jade out of Venice. Superb! Nothing has come close since.

Which cruise lines and ships have you done a TA on already so you will be comparing apples and oranges on your upcoming Harmony cruise?

Answering this only because I got an e-mail; I haven't been checking this thread. Don't want to pursue it because we all have our favourites and have had good and bad experiences on our cruises. I did a 28-day Trans-Pacific on the Sea Princess, a 14-day TA on the Adventure of The Seas and, before the Harmony, will have done a 13-day TA on Celebrity Eclipse.

But, I'm not doing this as doing a TA comparison. I just want to try out that particular mega-ship. I do prefer smaller, more intimate ships, and so this will be a new experience ... exciting and a little scary. The fact it's RCI is immaterial, but it could be my last one with that line ... unless I'm tempted by future routes/prices/free laundry/etc. (All ships should have either laundromats or free laundry, especially on long voyages!)

Hope this answers your question.

M.

These skinny balconies are only on the regal and the Royal and I was appalled when I first saw them too, but it really didn't impact our enjoyment at all on the Regal. Other princess ships have the normal balconies though.

We like both princess and Royal carib for different reasons

We like celebrity too they are all good in their own way
