I'm glad to see the Flyers banner was noticed both weeks. We often bring the banner which provides a bit of privacy as well as support for the local team. :D

Thanks Grady for posting such nice pics.

Personally, I feel that hanging banners from the balconies for more than just sail away, detracts from the overall views of the space. But that's just me.

The Comedy Club, also on deck 4. Both comedians in the club were hilarious, reservations are strongly recommended as seating is limited.

One deck above the promenade is the old entrance to what was the Diamond Lounge. Oddly, the old patio is still there above Boleros complete with furniture. I have no idea what it is now used for, possibly VIP parade viewing?

What I've heard is it's used for officers/crew now - maybe sort of an informal chat/interview space.

They should have made them interior balconies for the new cabins.;) Some have said they have seen staff using it for breaks

Thanks for the Blaze photos - we tried a few times and it was closed every time - even when it was supposed to be open.

No problem, they were not easy to get. I basically had to run in there as soon as it opened and get pics before other guests arrived.

If there is one thing that Royal Caribbean can be relied upon to do, it's run a really awful late night scene. They close the real disco to have a miserably hot dance party in the Solarium. They have 24 hour crappy sandwiches at Cafe Promenade, but close the pizzeria right after the club. And for that matter, why in the world does a nightclub on a ship (in international waters) close at 2 am when there are still patrons inside?

I must say that nightlife is the one area in which Carnival soundly defeats RCI. They keep their clubs open until 3-4 every night so long as people are still there, and the pizzeria (AKA drunk food) is open 24/7. :D

That's kinda what I figured. It's really a shame that those DLs got removed, they were very nice.

Day 1, Out to Sea:

After embarking and dropping the bags we set out to see the ship. I bought the beer and wine package in an effort to keep myself well hydrated throughout the week. Our muster station was in the Aqua Theater, and it was telecast onto the LED screens. This is a much nicer experience than the usual standing in the sun under the lifeboats.

This day was Halloween, so we got into our costumes and headed out to celebrate. The first stop was the Diamond Lounge for drinks. This was also the first night we met William, one of the nicest crew members we have ever met. Throughout the week he kept our glasses full and always had something nice to say. He also worked in the Blaze at night and continued his excellent service there as well. After the DL we got a quick dinner in the Windjammer Buffet. The food quality on the first night was unusually low, but it would prove to be a fluke as the rest of the week was much improved.

I was disappointed in the festivities the Cruise Director (Drew Devine) had planned. On Freedom last year they had a huge party that spanned the entire promenade, plus dance parties that continued on into the late evening. On this cruise, the promenade party was much smaller. There were few decorations around the ship, totally unlike Freedom last year. The costume parade simply went out from the Champagne Bar and turned around in front of the Globe and Atlas pub about fifty feet away. Many guests remained in costume for late night dancing in the Blaze nightclub, but that was the only difference from the other six nights on board. All in all, it was a lackluster Halloween on board Oasis.

While the downstairs was busy up until early seating dinner, the upstairs part of the DL was nearly unused, empty tables were plentiful

The Halloween dance party in Studio B, really the only themed party aside from the poor excuse for a parade on the Promenade.

Yours truly as Raoul Duke, Hunter Thompson's alter ego from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. The best thing about it was that the drunker I got, the better the costume worked.

Day 2, Nassau (or as some call it, “in port sea day”):

After a late first night in the club we slept in pretty late on our first full day on board. Lunchfast was in the Windjammer followed by my usual gathering of ship photos.

In the afternoon we watched Cats in the main theater. We made reservations ahead of time, but they were totally unnecessary since the place was only about half full. I saw Cats once before as a child at the Bob Carr in Orlando, so I had some idea of what to expect. As others have reported, the crowd thinned considerably after intermission. We stayed for the second half, and I am glad that we did as my favorite songs are toward the end. I though the production was very well done. I enjoyed it a lot.

We met our friends for dinner at 150 Central Park, it was our first time ever eating there. I though the food quality was very good and the servers were extremely attentive. The assorted salts from around the world they serve with the bread was an interesting touch. While I did enjoy the experience, I’m not much of a gourmet, so I doubt I would eat there again.
