Who's your favorite waiter or waitress, and why?

Better not mention a name, for obvious reasons, but our favourite waiter was the one in the ATD room who did not charge us the corkage fee on the bottle of special wine we brought for our 50th anniversary. Also did not asked for our coffee card when we ordered specialty coffees on 2 other nights. Needles to say that he got the money we would have spend on the corkage fee.

Theo

I think it was quite appropriate for him to waive the fee for your 50th. Congrats.

We always choose ATD, but I have no problem recalling two specialty room waiters.

Francesco, in Sabbatini's last January on the Crown. Imagine that, an Italian waiter in an Italian restaurant. Incredibly gregarious, very knowledgeable on the menu and the wines--he even chased down an off-the-menu wine for us one evening.

Janos, in Crown Grill for a Hawaii cruise on the Golden in 2013. Again, super personable. A fun guy, but, most importantly, he was very efficient and knew how to make us feel special

Has to be Lotfi Barinni....Head waiter on Regal and Royal....I believe he's on the Golden now. Great guy....we have followed him around and would choose one cruise over another if we know he's on a specific ship.

Ditto! Lotfi is one of my all time favorites.

Unbelievable - not that I don't believe you.

Never ever had several amazing waiters on one sale before, but last time we were lucky an got several on a Caribbean Princess: Teresita Layosa from the Coral dining room. She was outstanding putting her heart and soul into her job.Her work is literally her life. She was doing her very best to make sure that her guests would get the best. She was like a mother hen protecting her chickens.

2 ladies from International café Irene and Ievgenia from Ukraine were always greeting us with big smiles, kind words and were very passionate about their job. we were always looking forward to see them in the morning ordering our espressos.

We wish this ladies all the very best and we 'll remember them.

Ievgenia from Ukraine was our asst. waiter on the Caribbean Princess in November..We had her for 4 1/2 weeks.. She was the sweetest young lady..and very good at her job.. I hope she continues with Princess..we'd love to find her again.. Everyone at our table fell in love with her..

Hector. On Princess Caribbean Sept this year. His singing is outstanding and the high point for my Wife. He has been three different Cruises with us.

We have visited with him the last two times and he is very friendly. He also is the Head Waiter. This last cruise he was in the Palm Dinning Room.

Bob

We've heard him sing many times.. Absolutely incredible talent..and a great Head Waiter!!

Yes, we've had great wait staff. But the chances of seeing them again are remote so I don't get worked up about it.

We don't cruise multiple times per year. There is high turnover. They move ships. They have time off between contracts. Sorry, cannot get worked up about this one.

That said, I was delighted to see casino hostess Jelena last month on Regal.

Was that Julia from Italy? If so, we had her in ATD a couple of times on the Ruby, and she was terrific. She always had a smile on her face and a friendly greeting whenever and wherever we'd see her on the ship.

Our Julia was from Ukraine, although she always seems to be working in Sabatini's.. Breakfast and Dinner.. Afternoons in Horizon Court. She told us she had been on the Ruby.. so, maybe, the same girl.. Never saw her without a smile :D

We were recently on the Grand Princess on a cruise to Mexico. I don't know his full name, but our head waiter Luis from Mexico was awesome! I think he's been on a few other Princess ships as well. I have severe food allergies and he was always there to make sure I was ok. I wish he could be on every cruise I go on!!

Can't say I've ever had a bad one, except maybe the one who tried to tell me I didn't need ice cream with bomb Alaska, he clearly doesn't know the Gutsts motto, "everything goes better with ice cream, even ice cream".

I never have any favorites and I basically totally forget about them when I get off the ship. The only ones that I remember and this happens extremely infrequently are the bad ones and even then only about how bad they were and not their names.

Olena from Urkaine, bar steward on the Caribbean Princess last September. She was outstanding. She went all over the ship hunting down bottle of Shiraz for a couple of us. For some reason that cruise (too many Aussies on board on teh TA - 500 of them) there was a shortage of a lot of wines or they sold out. Anyway, she found some and stashed a couple away for us. So we would have enough for the rest of the cruise. We paid for them of course (just in case your wondering) lol :D

As soon as you walked in she had your bottle ready and glassed poured.

Also, Joanna from Philippines who was on the Sun Princess and I again saw her in March on the Diamond. She knew everyone name. Greeted everyone, knew your favourite drink and was attentive and prompt with the service. She got employee of the month and I understand why. She went above and beyond.

Also, Raj from India head waiter on the Diamond Princess. He was a hoot. Hope he is again on the Diamond Princess when I board in March.

Those three stand out the most for me.

Alick on the Star Princess for our Hawaii cruise in September-October 2015 was absolutely wonderful. He was sweet, thoughtful, considerate, patient, and respectful. He was the most even-keeled server we have ever met. Even when guests were being rude and hostile toward him, he treated them with total respect and kindness. His personality is outstanding. We still keep in touch with him.

Is there a way to find out which waiters are on a certain ship? I've tried to find specific ones before, but had no luck with it.

I thought it would be fun for everyone to share the name of their favorite waiter or waitress, and the reasons why. Also, please include the name of the ship they were working on.

(Let's stick with waiters and waitresses, if you want to start a a separate thread about bartenders or cabin stewards, be my guest.)

Hope

Regal Princess, Main Dining Room, Inaugural Season.

After a disastrous first night with a bumbling, forgetful waiter, the Maitre D' hooked us up with the sweetest young lady, Hope for the rest of our cruise. She went above & beyond every meal for every table in her station. I could type for ages about how wonderful she was, and still not do her justice. so I'll spare you.

Last April on the Ruby to Hawaii we had Sandra, from Mexico. At the table with us were two sisters, one 84 the other 87, and she always paid special attention to them regarding their diet needs, walkers, etc. She was always smiling, laughing with us ( or at us) and went out of her way to insure our dinner was exactly what and how we wanted it. These cute sisters were very appreciative of her but unfortunately were unable to give her much of a tip, so we gave her $150 for all she did to make dining so enjoyable.
