There Has Got to Be a Morning After

Thought this board could use some levity before the holidays.

I am on the Jade from Houston making the Western Caribbean run Christmas/New Year’s week. Cruised Suite to Ocean View, and Cunard to WindJamer (RIP). I am on my 1st Wedding Anniversary Cruise with my beloved. We have been together for 19 years, but were finally allowed to get married last year. Because of pricing being holiday week I took the guarantee room gamble by purchasing an inside room. We have never traveled inside.

Well we got our room, and you guessed right. Front of the 'boat' above the stage of the Theatre, Deck 8. I am sure we will be lulled to sleep by the sweet voices of Broadway show tunes from below. Well at least it will be music of my people! In addition, being that the inside room is 136 sq ft and such a small dark place for two big boys, once I go insane by my Beloveds OCD (well really “CDO”, OCD alphabetized) kicking in and his slow methodical unwrapping of a Werther's mint, while Memories is wafting from the theatre below, I will be distressed as there is no balcony to plot sweet relief and exit. Oh well, we will have the anchor chain wakeup call to look forward to!

I am well prepared for the deservedly Cheap Bastard label from my “Little Crab Cake” but question for the group, as Cary Bradshaw would state, “How does one survive and in fact thrive, in the smallest and most likely loudest cabin without making your "Butter Bean" run to divorce court?”

Stay up later! The show only goes until probably 11pm at the latest. There are worse cabins, noise-wide, on the Jade. Those are the people you see at the Blue Lagoon at 2am ordering mozzarella sticks to shove in their ears.

Have a great cruise and happy anniversary!

Earplugs and copious amounts of alcohol.

Check and Check(UBP) + the miracle of Pharmaceuticals. I will definitely pack my inner Judy Garland. Though I more scared of the noise when my "Little Heifer" sees the room. I have not told him where we are and he has Haven tastes.

Love this post :)

I would suggest you keep an eye on the prices and see if you can upgrade to a balcony, often the price difference is not very much between inside and balcony. If not, look at ocean view cabins as sometimes they are quite a bit bigger than insides.

At any rate, have an amazing trip, congrats on your anniversary!

Ha ha! "Little Heifer" and "Little Crab Cake!" You are cracking me up! It is clear that you have a loving and playful relationship and he should appreciate the cruise, although The Haven would be quite the enjoyable experience....

On to the question at hand! Have you considered a white noise machine? I have a White Noise app on my phone and have found it to be helpful when the cars are driving by at MACH at 2am (rude buggers, aren't they?). Fans are decent too, if you can figure out how to cram one in with the two of you. OR! You could call and see if there is an upgrade for a small(-ish?) fee. Best to you and enjoy your cruise!

Thanks for the advice. Completely sold out.

No upgrades as NCL is completely sold out. Nice problem to have. I have Tiffany's on Speed dial. Silver plated ear plugs or New Year's Eve Tiara to calm down "My Enchantment"?

Ha! Or just don't try to go to sleep at 11pm when on vacation. :D The ship is still very much alive at that hour.

We've stayed right above the theatre on Deck 8 on the Gem and on the Pearl (sister ship). We loved it! There was no extra noise there. We don't go to bed at 9, but we don't stay up really late either.

It is way worse to be over or under the casino or a restaurant.

I would love to be a fly on the wall when your Little Buttercup unwraps his Christmas present. :D

Years ago we were in cabin 9500 on the Star (it's right at the bow). Way after all the shows had ended, we awoke to MUSIC (that's LOUD music) coming from some unknown location. Our first thought was neighboring cabins, so we got dressed and did some investigating. Once out in the hall, we couldn't hear any noise. Cabins on both sides were quiet. We tried Deck 8 -- not a sound. But right outside the theater on Deck 7 we heard what turned out to be a practice for "Band on the Run!" I think we heard the very first production of that show the following night.

Happy Holidays and Happy Anniversary to you, MrMan, and to your beloved.

OMG does he know of all these nicknames? You are cracking me up! I'd slap my DH big time if he even jokingly called me a heifer!

Happy Anniversary!

Lol it's not like we are on HAL and the 10 pm parade of walkers accompanied by the chorus of "Get out of the way" from the schooter gang marching to the staterooms .:D

Congratulations on your anniversary, and thank goodness for Anthony Kennedy.

I hope you guys have a wonderful cruise!

I just got a flashback. I was on the receiving end of the 'cheap bastard' phrase accompanied by tears from my beloved when I opened door to our small inside Viking deck cabin on the SS Norway in the early 90's. The great service back then when the MDR had set dining times and the lack of motivation to steer passengers to pay restaurants for a higher quality meal made up for the basic accommodations.

No worries I got Specialty Dining reservations most nights. Variety is Spice of life and no rushing for set time while strangers glare at us to eat warmed over appetizers. The "Lint Trap of My Love" prefers it that way
