CruiserBruce Posted January 10, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 10, 2016 Some specifics...what ship? Bottom of the ship? I doubt you will be in the bottom, as there will be many decks below yours, holding the crew, stores, laundry, the medical center, fuel, water... Many, if not most, cruise ships have set ups where the bed can be joined as a Queen or King, or separated as two singles. This can be arranged very easily. cb at sea Posted January 10, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 10, 2016 The lowest passenger deck is FAR from the "bottom of the boat"! There are crew decks below you, then storage decks, then mechanical decks..... All but the largest suites have twin beds....most will go together to make a king. There are no suites on the lower decks.
shipgeeks Posted January 10, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 10, 2016 Your travel agent, or the cruiseline you booked with, should give you the option of how you would like the beds. You can request what you want ahead of time. If, for some reason, they are wrong when you get there, just ask your stateroom attendant to fix them. paul929207 Posted January 10, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 10, 2016 You should check with your TA or cruise line to determine the type of bed(s) in your cabin.

Rare John Bull Posted January 10, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 10, 2016 The norm. is twin beds which can be pushed together & made-up as a double, so if it's made up as a double you can just ask your cabin steward to change it. But that doesn't apply to all cabins on all ships, especially the older ones. Some cabins have two singles in an L-shape because the cabin isn't wide enough for a double. And some doubles (eg some cabins on Thomson Majesty) are constructed as double beds. So you need to quote your ship, or check the deck plans on the internet, or ask your T/A or cruise line. Lower decks tend to be more stable than higher decks, the water-line is the most stable part & I don't know of any ships with passenger cabins below the water-line. Outside cabins may have port-holes rather than windows, and metal covers may be brought down over the port-holes by your steward in heavy weather. Again, the cruise line's deck plans are likely to tell you whether you have a window or port-holes. JB :)
Dayenu Posted January 11, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 11, 2016 Depending on the ship, but usually 2 single beds that can be pushed together into one king-size bed. If you walk in the cabin and see them together, ask the cabin steward to separate them. Give him/her a few pounds as an additional tip. In the lower part cabins are with or without windows, no balconies. A separate toilet with shower, and the cabin like a small hotel room. There is a muster drill at the start, this is mandatory, you both must be there.
Lerin Posted January 11, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 11, 2016 If you look out the window in the Bottom of the Boat, you can find Nemo. :D
