LIVE from The Anthem of the Seas - February 6, 2016

Although I'm sure it was very fright in for all aboard. The way people portray it, like the Capt. Purposely put over 6000 souls at risk. The fact that only four minor injuries were reported, is a testament to the Capt. And ships officers ability to keep the passengers as safe as possible.

This was a freak situation, and the Capt. saved lives by using his skills as a seasoned veteran at the helm. But, I've said this on other threads

1) Capt. Will be fired. (PR MOVE)

2) ship will have to go into dry dock for hull inspection. (Knee jerk reaction)

3) next 2 cruises will be canceled.("Sorry folks, Wally World is closed. The moose out front should of told ya")

They've actually already announced that the Anthem will sail on Saturday as planned. I don't think they will fire Captain Claus either - he really was absolutely fantastic.

I have a question. Did Carnival or NCL or another cruise line have ships sailing down the coast? What happened to them? Did they stay in port? I'm sure the Anthem is not the only ship to cruise that itinerary. This has probably already been asked and answered but I can't find it.

Agreed!! I grew up on an island and we had boats since I can't remember. You never know when a small storm is going to blow up into gale force or hurricane force winds. I wasn't on that cruise, but I'm sure of one thing, I WOULD sail again. I'm a travel agent and while I do have to be open to any cruise line for my clients, I am and will remain Loyal to Royal. (I'll take that 50% off certificate if you don't want it!!!! :p

I asked that same question on the Carnival Pride forum. Yes, the Pride did sail on Sunday; they saw the storm (remember they sailed at 4:30 or 5pm on Sunday) and altered their course. Word is the Bridge folks on the Pride did note the Anthem was already on course in the path of the storm...probably too late for them to alter their course at that point.

I'm no expert, but I do recall somebody commenting about this.

I've never seen Carnival mentioned, so I assume they have minimal or no ships from NY/NJ. But, somebody did comment that the NCL ship was in the Caribbean during this time (I assume so was the other RCCL ship that sails from Baltimore -Grandeur(?))

The Carnival Pride also sails from Baltimore...it always departs on Sunday (I've been on her 4 times!) It was definately the Pride. :)

I just watched ABC GMA clip from today and they had Gord Walker (scummy lawyer) on as too. Amazing what they can do with editing. Rolling my eyes at the reporter's comments at pier side not to mention the lawyer.

They then did a discussion panel with a few guests in studio and one person (many time cruiser) said "they put on their snorkel vest as he said Anthem had no life vests in the cabin, but at Muster Stations". Another mid 20s person left their cabin after 20 minutes "because they couldn't do it", she just didn't want to be in it. One young girl had fun as it was her birthday cruise, but her dad said he was afraid. The many time cruiser noted above said his "meteorologist friend on shore said this storm had been predicted for a week previous to sailing".

The most interesting question was when asked if they were ever to cruise again with a show of hands, almost all raised their hands with a bit of trepidation.

Don't know about Carnival, but my girlfriend is on Breakaway. The left NYC on January 31st and are on a 2 week Caribbean cruise. So they missed all the fun.

Thanks - I was trying to edit my reply after I saw yours! The other lines just got lucky and didn't have to make the decision.

I have wondered if anyone interviewed another cruise line for their opinion, but I imagine they all would have no comments on the issue. But, would be more relevant than the local weather guy saying it was going to be bad!

I'm sitting on the NCL Gem right now having just arrived back in NY on a 10-day sailing that began on Feb. 1, so we were already in the Caribbean when the storm hit. Not sure where the Breakaway was. We got swells from the remnants of the storm on our way back. I followed what happened to Anthem on line and am very thankful there were no serious injuries. All my good thoughts to everyone affected by this, you went through a terrifying experience.

We were on the Anthem TA this fall, and I was glad to see her safely back in port this morning when we sailed by.

I saw it too. I am wondering how the board thread pics get populated on tapatalk

I no longer see it....I know it was reported by several people and so must have been removed. It showed up around midnight last evening. Is it still showing up on some posters' computers?

I also saw it first thing this morming. Not very happy about that. How does something like that get through?

It takes a while for the mods to take stuff down. The site does not have a way to block everything racy like that, though it does automatically filter out words from posts themselves the mods deem offensive (along with some web sites - like the RCI blog site).

Some may have quoted the offending post, so those have to be removed as well.

Hello:

I took a look at the inappropriate display issue as described by you and those that emailed us, and it appears it was isolated to those using the TAPATALK app to view the forums.

If anyone was using the actual Cruise Critic version of the app (it clearly states Cruise Critic and it has our colors), please let us know at help@cruisecritic.com.

Has anyone received confirmation about the February 13th sailing ?

Previous posts say yes; think there was even a letter from Royal. But, I suppose the real answer will come once inspectors get on the ship and evaluate it. Assume it will go at this point.

I just watched the GMA blurb....ugh

My guess is the reason Lindsay and her bf got bumped was due to her positive outlook on the whole situation. GMA wanted the negative spin to be heard without having to ask the questions... Drama sells

It was just a link when I saw it on Cruise Critic. It clearly said "sex" and "porn" in the link, so it was pretty obvious what it was.

Ugh, good thing you didn't see what Nancy Grace was saying about this cruise, on Monday. That woman has become a joke and not a good one. Talk about being overly dramatic, plus as she was talking they showed a clip from the movies "Poseidon Adventure" and "The Perfect Storm." Really?
