Gordoncruickshank Posted February 16, 2016 #26 Share Posted February 16, 2016 I don't think it really matters in the sky suite as it's a big open room. It's our cabin of choice always, the S1 on the aft corners. We don't take too much advantage of the butler, although we do make special type requests for our afternoon tea time that he brings. Instead of the sweets and little sandwiches, we prefer cheese, veggie tray and hummus, crackers, shrimp, dried fruit, an apple to slice, lots of raspberries and other fresh berries. We ask him to alternate those things every day. We don't do the escorts to the theatre for reserved seating, although if we're attending the show we will sit in that reserved suite section which is top level center balcony. We absolutely love Michael's Club and you can get all kinds of wonderful private tours, eat at the captain's table, etc. and free drinks all day long. We also love Luminae, which in my opinion, is the best perk of the suite besides the extra space in the room. The Michael's Club concierge, at least from our experience on Eclipse, is a gem. I felt like we were friends after the two week cruise was over. We never have had soot on the balcony, except maybe a couple little pieces which could have been something else. A tissue got rid of it. I certainly wouldn't call the butler of the cabin steward to come wipe up a spot! We were in 2158 last year. Any of this ex AS cabins on the hump are great. ExArkie Posted February 17, 2016 #27 Share Posted February 17, 2016 If your booking was before 1.1.16 then you still get the free speciality meals. If after they are gone. This was my understanding. We booked on Millennium yesterday, and the description of staterooms on the regular site (i.e., before starting the booking) did not mention specialty dining. However, reading the descriptions on the booking pages, the specialty dining perk was still listed for Celebrity Suite and higher. Confusing, but I assume that they have just done a poor job editing the Web site and failed to remove that perk on the booking page. I printed it, though, just in case it helps in negotiations...doubtful.

We certainly wouldn't call a butler to clean soot however when he was trying to put the table cloth on the table to put breakfast on it, it was filthy he cleaned it. because of the wind I assume the amount of soot varies. We never had breakfast on the balcony again as the sun was more a conern then the soot. I agree with the special seating in the balcony. We prefer to sit lower down and do not sit in the suite section on Chic nights. We do love luminae and michaels club. Those perks along with the 300 square feet, extra storage space and a large bathroom in the suite are why we enjoy the sky suites.
Gracie115 Posted March 20, 2016 #29 Share Posted March 20, 2016 Not sure that this goes down to sky suites. We are on the Eclipse in an S1 on Sunday and have heard nothing from shoeside concierge. Not too bothered about it. We know what we are going to. Pm\n Silhouette after that in a CS, will be interested to see how they contact me as we will be on the Eclipse. We were in a CS for last year's Eclipse TA and never heard a word from the concierge before sailing..... THIS year we are again in a CS for the Reflection TA in 3 weeks AND again have heard nothing ..... so this "perk" is most definitely hit or miss....... Lastdance Posted March 20, 2016 #31 Share Posted March 20, 2016 I would consider an S2 at the aft corner; great views!!!!!! My apologies; I was referring to an S1...:)
bigbenboys Posted March 21, 2016 #32 Share Posted March 21, 2016 We were on Reflection March 5th cruise. We had a A1 cabin that we had booked under 123go while on a cruise. I had my TA change it to a S1 with the Best get all 4. I ended up with more OBC and have to pay $900 more. We were very happy with our cabin on deck 12. Alliebally Posted February 26, 2017 #33 Share Posted February 26, 2017 Can you tell me what cabin you were in. We sail on the Mardi Gras cruise on 9/02/18 and have cabin 2160 on deck 12. We are worried there may be noise from above.

I have been sailing in concierge and always consider an upgrade to a Sky suite, but the price difference is too dramatic (almost double) and out of budget. As another poster mentioned, we could almost do 2 cruises (which for me still is more appealing than one in a sky suite) -- still, the 'desire' to try a suite isn't disappearing ;) Edited February 26, 2017 by Shadow9612 spelling corrrection
Gordoncruickshank Posted February 26, 2017 #36 Share Posted February 26, 2017 We are on the Eclipse again just now in a CS suite and we were contacted about 3 weeks beforehand. We leave the Eclipse on the 5th March to transfer to N S1 on Silhouette but have had no contact about that.

Yes 2019! It was the last S2 available for this sailing. Only a handful of S1's remain. For a popular cruise sailing prime time, doubtful rates will come down for suites. However, I once got very lucky by calling celebrity daily about a week before the cruise and snagged an S2 for a two week cruise for just a few hundred dollars. Since then, we always sail in an S2 or higher. We booked directly with celebrity and it was fast and easy to make this upgrade! I always try to upgrade now to a CS but haven't ever been Lucky again. Enjoy your cruise

Luxana Posted February 26, 2017 #39 Share Posted February 26, 2017 Upgrade to the Sky Suite. It's worth it. The butler is your go-to person. You can eat at Luminae, which is a huge perk. Quieter, better ambiance, more personal service. High end menu. Free drinks in Michael's Club and the services of the Michael Club concierge. Your butler will serve you dinner in your room or on balcony with tablecloth, etc. and you can order from the dining room menu; extended room service menu, also. You can have a party in your stateroom and your butler will arrange it all. Once you're in a suite with a butler, you never go back.

DoubleEntry Posted February 27, 2017 #42 Share Posted February 27, 2017 We've been on Celebrity many times, usually in a Concierge Class. We're moving on up to a Sky Suite. My question is about Michael's Club. The comments on here seem to point to the Sky Suites getting that access, but the website doesn't list it. Anyone know for sure what's happening? We're on the Reflection in November. Thanks, Jeff

Originally only Celebrity Suites and higher got access so my guess would be that once again the X site didn't get updated. km32937 Posted February 27, 2017 #45 Share Posted February 27, 2017 We were on Reflection in a Sky Suite last April. Loved it. Another benefit to having a butler is having him escort you to a tender (no need to get wait in line to get a ticket).

Thank you for pointing that out, I would not have though of that. If a person is getting an upgrade (eg Concierge to S2) for a special price, isn't that because the S2 is listed at that new price to anyone who books it? So why wouldn't the person getting the upgrade also get the same points?

The best answer is because Celebrity can. I guess the policy is really because you either received the higher level room upgrade for free or at a very significant discount therefore you are really only paying for the lower level. You do receive all the other benefits associated with the higher level room I am not defending the policy, but just confirming. IMO it is a fair policy. Yes- we had all of the suite perks which were great- just not the points for a Sky Suite- If I upgraded and paid the full price I would get the points. But to save over $1500. so really they can keep the points! You are correct about this not always being the policy as we did the same years ago moving from CC to a Celebrity Suite . While the last minute discount wasn't as good as the move from a CC to a Sky suite we did get the points-so I did argue with them to no avail. I am sure I will try to move from our Sky Suites again in the future to CS if the price is right.
OtherFigment Posted February 27, 2017 #50 Share Posted February 27, 2017 I'm really hoping we get the full points. I just upgraded to an S1 for our upcoming cruise and one of the reasons was the additional points. We did not get a "discounted" upgrade, we paid the full amount the room was going for at the time. Yes, it was less that we had seen it at some points, but wasn't what I would consider a discounted upgrade.
