Projunior Posted February 17, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2016 I unknowingly walked off the Liberty of the Seas in 2010 with a $100 casino chip. When I got home I called RCL and was told they used to allow people to mail them the chips and would send them the money, but, alas, they had just changed their policy a few weeks prior and no longer did that. I was told my only option was to wait until my next RCL cruise. Fast forward 6 years and I am sailing on the Navigator this coming April. Any predictions on what will happen when I go to the casino with this chip?
Rare DragonOfTheSeas Posted February 17, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 17, 2016 No harm in trying to redeem it. Let us know how it goes. :D
Rare John&LaLa Posted February 17, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 17, 2016 I see $1 and $5 chips from other ships from time to time. Don't recall seeing any $25 or $100 though
Nado44 Posted February 17, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 17, 2016 I'd go to the casino cashier/cage and turn in the chip there. And provide an explanation, if questioned.

I'd try it at the table first. Dealers are pretty easy going. It's black, right.
20pluscruises Posted February 17, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 17, 2016 We cashed one in at the window. It was quite a few years old and the chips were different looking. Found in DH's tux pocket. Good luck!
molly361 Posted February 17, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 17, 2016 Don't they have the name of the ship on them?? I just used some on the BR that a friend left with last April and the ship's name was on the chips.

Like I said earlier, I've seen different ships in the small denominations, but never the big ones.

I was just wondering if you could cash a Liberty chip on the Navigator as the OP was asking about since it is not the same ship

Laura cash's in $100 chips at the table most every night and I don't recall the dealers looking at them very diligently. Pretty sure the current chips on Freedom are unchanged in the last 6 years. Went on Victory Casino ship last spring and they still had commemorative chips from last space shuttle launch in circulation Edited February 17, 2016 by John&LaLa
OTownNick Posted February 17, 2016 #12 Share Posted February 17, 2016 The $100 and $500 chips have the ship's name on them. The dealer will catch that at the table. I would go to cashier and get the chip cashed out...If they refuse to give you cash, see if they will give you smaller chips and go play with that

Projunior Posted April 26, 2016 Author #14 Share Posted April 26, 2016 Good luck, hope they honor the chip. Let us know how it turns out please Last week on the Navigator I presented the chip at the casino cage on the first day. The cashier said she would take a picture of it and also send an email to the Liberty of the Seas. She took the picture, handed me back the chip and asked that I give them two days. Two days later I exchanged the chip for a C-note.

I forgot to take it when I returned in 2014...I'm hoping to book in the next few years with them again. Granted, their policy may be different than RCI, but it does give me a bit of "hope". Sobro Posted April 26, 2016 #16 Share Posted April 26, 2016 Good info, Projunior. Speaking of chips, my wife and I often get fridge magnets as cruise souvenirs. Once on the Liberty I noticed a $1 chip I had was really new. I kept it and glued a magnet to it. Not only is it cheaper than the magnets in the gift shop, it's unique. DeadPhish Posted April 26, 2016 #18 Share Posted April 26, 2016 There's a pretty big market out there for casino chips, usually at higher values. Although you probably limit the amount of collectors with a $100 chip. But you could always try that route on ebay or somwhere.
5soonerfans Posted April 26, 2016 #19 Share Posted April 26, 2016 That is good news. I hope that we will have the same luck. We have three $25 Navigator chips and are going on the Allure in July.
TheMastodon Posted April 26, 2016 #20 Share Posted April 26, 2016 (edited) Wow! That is great they redeemed it. I had a $25 from Allure and tried the same thing on Oasis and they wouldn't cash it! Edited April 26, 2016 by TheMastodon
bouhunter Posted April 26, 2016 #21 Share Posted April 26, 2016 A friend was on NCL a couple months ago and came home with a casino ticket for over 200.00. She's a great gal but pretty laid back, I don't know if she ever tried to follow up with NCL to see if anything could be done.
jaygee77 Posted April 26, 2016 #22 Share Posted April 26, 2016 I was just on Independence of the Seas a week ago, and this exact question came up. While no denomination was specified, the dealer indicated that they accepted chips from other RCI ships. You can also redeem chips by taking them to guest services, or even mailing them in. With it being 6-7 years old, it may warrant a call first just to ensure that they didn't replace all their chips in between then and now (e.g. as an anti counterfeiting measure). But I'd bet you one black chip of my own that they'd accept it on any RCI ship.
