Hello. My husband and I are celebrating our 3rd honeymoon with a cruise on the Coral Princess in October. We will be staying overnight pre-cruise on a SATURDAY in October, and are searching for a nice restaurant for a great experience.

We WANT:

- a fun or romantic place that will be memorable - we love great experiences or incredible views or something wow about the restaurant, decor or staff

- great value, good and plentiful eats

- perhaps where the locals go

We do NOT want:

- something extravagant or outrageously priced

- stuffy, too dressy atmosphere

- the place to be seen - who cares?

- teensy portions

- no Indian or Korean foods

We welcome your ideas for a fantastic meal.

Thank you!

You will get ideas here but just wanted to also say I would use Trip Advisor as well.

As much as I value recommendations on these board when it comes to Restaurants I usually get much more input on Trip Advisor by reading about restaurants so just wanted to mention that as well.

For spectacular views of the water way, I suggest Grille 66, located on the Hyatt Regency property. It's a bit on the high side, but has excellent food. Read the reviews on TA. Either before or after dinner, walk along the pier and look at the mega sized yachts. Oh, we are staying 3 nights pre-cruise at the Hyatt Pier 66 again this year.

Another option is Mezzaluna, near Harbor Shops - no view, but good menu; we love their Happy Hour at the bar. We're staying at Hyatt Place, post-cruise, an easy walk across the parking lot to this restaurant.

There are numerous restaurants along 17th St. area, sea food, ethnic and traditional American foods. Lots of chain restaurants, too, not for an anniversary dinner, IMO.

Check out Market 17. We especially like the chef's tasting menu. They also have a 'dine in the dark' option that we have never tried. The restaurant (located across 17th Street from the Hilton) is beautiful and features farm to table fare and a great selection of wines. http://www.market17.net/

Great idea Keith, I am a huge Trip Advisor fan when looking for restaurants.

Have found some excellent places!

To OP you can usually search menu's on TA also.

I was actually going to suggest Dining in the Dark at Market 17. It's definitely not the norm, and it is a memorable experience. A bit on the pricey side, but to us it was worth it.

Reservations must be made ahead of time, and any dietary restrictions, requirements, and allergies, should be advised at the time of making the reservation.

Dine with an open mind!

One of my girlfriends did this and said it was amazing!

Casablanca Cafe on A1A. Open air dining across the street from the beach. Great seafood and locally sourced ingredients. A bit of a long walk from 17th St so take cab, Über or the trolley bus.

A local institution is Southport Raw bar on Cordova St I believe.

Quarterdeck on Dania Beach pier also worth considering. Good seafood and on the fishing pier just south of Port Everglades.

FLL has tons of great dining options.
