Rare Vict0riann Posted April 1, 2016 #101 Share Posted April 1, 2016 We had an interesting walk this morning - a dry run for dinner tonight, and then took the trolley tour from near the cruise pier. Amusing driver/guide. We got off in Old Town and walked around and had a snack lunch, then got on again and came back to Horton Plaza. I was disappointed that we didn't get to see the Mission - it would have been a very long walk. We are looking forward to dinner tonight. I was just having a look at a sample menu on line. Looks good!
Rare 1of4 Posted April 2, 2016 #102 Share Posted April 2, 2016 I saw a video of it on the 4 o'clock San Diego news. Yikes! Saw it on the news on Thursday but the Friday morning news showed the damage to the ship.
Happily@Sea Posted April 2, 2016 #103 Share Posted April 2, 2016 (edited) Tomorrow's program says lunch in the MDR - level 2 - from Noon to 1:30. Piano Bar entertainer is listed as Anna. The intransits do not have to gather for a zero count. Who knew the good captain was a triplet - hope the sticky horn finger is well-rested up. How come every time I return port in the US, it turns cold. Edited April 2, 2016 by Happily@Sea
cranethie Posted April 2, 2016 #104 Share Posted April 2, 2016 Welcome to the USA. I hope you won't too jet-lagged and will enjoy a well deserved sleep tonight. Roy Oh too right about the sleep Roy. We walked in the glorious sunsine most of the afternoon and then it hit me about half an hour ago when I stretched out in a lovely warm bath of water - and promptly nodded off. It's nearly 7pm, The Golfer thinks he's going to watch some golf on tv - I'm thinking it's going to be lights out very shortly or we'll be like death warmed up at the pier tomorrow. Wow, that's very unusual. Wish we could see and listen to the departure tomorrow. Smooth Sailing ! :) :) :)

That has been our experience with B2B cruises in San Diego. MUCH different and SO MUCH easier than we experienced twice in Miami and once in San Juan.:)
MekesMom Posted April 2, 2016 #108 Share Posted April 2, 2016 Enjoyed bourbon cocktails at three different locales and ordered appetizers at two restaurants. It's a happening town. Should come here more often. Usually fly in day of cruise from San Diego but Priceline gave me a hotel deal. Mom spent the day with a high school friend from Marin. My uber driver and hotel clerk are envious of my 30 day cruise. Lovely weather. SF Bay Area was overcast this am
Rare kazu Posted April 2, 2016 Author #109 Share Posted April 2, 2016 I'm so excited for all of you - Kazu, save your arm and let someone else carry your luggage and purse as well. I'll be following your travels from afar (Japan) for the next couple of weeks, but wanted to say Bon Voyage and sayonara till you return ! Smooth Sailing ! :) :) Gerry thanks Gerry. :) I have kind roll call members offering to help with the first set of meet and greet invites and I have accepted their kind help. (Sapper1, MsABGilroy, Scrapnana, Vict0riann & TravelingDot - thank you :)). I just can't hold that weight in the one hand and if I alternate I can't reach up that many times. I'll work my way up slowly with the other invites and hopefully be able to deliver the second set on my own ;) Have a great time in the Far East! What a great trip you have planned too :) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Rare Scrapnana Posted April 2, 2016 #110 Share Posted April 2, 2016 Twenty-six of us had a great meal at the Fish Market. It was fun to meet some of the roll call early. Not too much longer to wait!

Not too much longer to wait! We did indeed. Had our first rickshaw ride too - moments of suspense - LOL. I'll report tomorrow when I can download pics and not so weary or sore. Pics are going to start coming. I forgot the food porn at lunch, but not at dinner ;) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I forgot the food porn at lunch, but not at dinner ;) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk The rickshaw ride was great fun". We shared the ride with Jacqui and José. We wondered why the driver was taking great pains to buckle us in until the "entertainment " started. He did a lot of intentional sudden swerving and 360's which had us laughing and squealing. I have had a few rickshaw rides in San Diego before but none of the thrill ride variety. We were never on a street---rather mostly on the waterfront walkway and in a park area on the way back to the Embassy Suites---so in no danger from traffic. Lizzie68 Posted April 2, 2016 #114 Share Posted April 2, 2016 (edited) He obviously wasn't the same one we had last year - who did an excellent job and didn't look like he could pull one person let alone four.:D Sounds like you had fun though. That has happened to us each time in San Diego, except last year.

LynnObie Posted April 2, 2016 #121 Share Posted April 2, 2016 Just started letting pax off the ship. Soon you all will be joining me. :D Thanks, Carole.... So glad we didn't plan to arrive too early & have to be dropped outside the gates again! Our shuttle is prabably still about an hour north of SD after sitting in traffic inching along for 33 minutes for what turned out to be a "gawker's block" from a bad accident in the northbound lanes! Sure glad it wasn't us or in our lanes. Won't be long now! :D

scluvsrain Posted April 2, 2016 #123 Share Posted April 2, 2016 The checkin was the longest I've ever experienced for HAL. It was efficient, just took FOREVER. Rare 1of4 Posted April 2, 2016 #124 Share Posted April 2, 2016 On my way out but grabbed a few screen shots for you. It is -1 and snowing here...looks like you are having much nicer weather!! Sorry I was anxious to catch a screen shot before the camera moved but I still have the exit message on the screen. :( Hopefully I will be home in time to catch a few more. Bon Voyage!
