Wearing robes around the ship?

Recommended Posts

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember seeing bathtubs and/or shower stalls in the MDR, or in the Windjammer, or in the Casino, or near the Guest Relations desk, or in the theater (.... forgive my confusion...) but why do I see some fellow passengers arriving at these venues... wearing their bathrobes? ;)

I have never taken a bath or a shower wearing a robe. So why is it called a bathrobe?;):D

Dang, I guess I'm going to have to find something else to wear to Windjammer.

We could both wear them and go as a matching set. I'm sure a thread would appear on CC by someone informing the community all about the sighting.

A bathrobe is a garment that's usually worn when going from the bedroom to the bathroom and back to the bedroom/dressing room and.... within the privacy of one's own home and or cabin/stateroom only? :D;)

You're on, now all we have to do is come up with a common cruise.

I don't particularly care what someone else is wearing when they're running around on the ship. I have worn mine going to the spa and back, and have occasionally have stopped to grab a drink and/or snack on the way.

I don't think it's appropriate for sitting in any of the food venues, especially the MDR, but it's not worth me getting annoyed on my vacation.

If I saw someone doing that I'd just chalk it up to the fun sport of goofy people-watching on a cruise.:D

The nice fuzzy robes are actually nice to use at night when going to the hot tub and then back to the cabin. I do not want to use a cover-up and get it wet for the next day, since nothing drys in the cabins. My husband does not have a swim cover up , as most men do not...so I feel a robe if going from the hot tub to the cabin is fine. I have felt very uncomfortable doing this the past few times because of threads like this.... I know some think it strange.

It is quite nice to put on the thick robe after the hot tub, especially when it is a bit chilly outside. I would never walk around the ship in a robe though, but I have seen this too. My motto is, to each his own. I am not here to judge others.

Hi, I am German. When I am visiting my brother, I get a " Bademantel", translated Bathingcoat. When you go to the swimming pool, you take your bathingcoat instead of towels.

You wear it when you come out of the water.

But: I never wear my robe outside of my cabin on a ship.

Many people that do are Europeans.

I've gone to the buffet in pajamas and a robe...

I didn't want to trouble the room attendant or have room service wake my Mother when they forgot to leave ice.

I have gone to DL in pajamas...Mom needs her double espresso to roll out of bed in the morning. (She doesn't like the "regular" ship coffee, and it's a small thing I can do.)

My pajama top says "I woke up like this."

If you have a problem with any of that...then you have a problem with someone that is trying to be considerate towards people that are trying to serve you...people that try to be nice to Mom... or Beyonce.

You never know the intent or the motive behind the actions of a stranger.

Unless it affects you adversely in some way...just smile and enjoy your cruise.

:)

I still don't see why you need to wear pj's. Mike likes to get up early about 6:30 and go and get coffee. I sleep in longer than that. He is able to get dressed, go out the door to get coffee, come back in and go out on the balcony to enjoy his coffee. I never hear a thing and I am a light sleeper. How hard can it really be to get dressed in other clothes? Some people say robes or pj's are more comfortable. Obviously they need to shop for more comfortable clothing.

I agree completely.

I also want to add that I've seen people wear robes to the Concierge Lounge to get their morning coffee. I just smile and think to myself, "That's someone who is enjoying their cruise." I feel like I'm sharing their enjoyment.

Oh maybe she paid hard earned money that she had to get up and get dressed every morning for, so is therefore spending her holiday time NOT getting up and dressed every morning. Like she's paid a lot of money for a cruise, she can wear pajamas if she likes.
