For now. It's happened 4 nights in a row. They know they can flood spam the boards when it is night in North America.

I hope so. :) Thanks for all you do - it is appreciated.

Thanks ! We appreciate the appreciation - our hosts have certainly had their hands full as well.

And tonight will be different - fingers crossed!!!

They don't know and they don't care if most folks can read it or not. Costs them zero to do what they do, if one person clicks through then it was worth the minimal effort to set up their bots to do this.

As in the past, CruiseCritic will reimburse any members their membership fees from the times the site was unavailable upon request. They have always been very good about doing so.

What is the purpose of spamming a board in a language almost none of the members can read?

There was a link embedded in all of the text. If you clicked any one of them, it would have taken you to an online casino site (at least the one I actually clicked) Now, who knows if that online casino is an actual casino or a scam. Their goal could have simply been to get people to the site to spend money or be scammed out of money.

It probably wasn't that, though. Normally spammers will post those links because it will give them a boost in their google ranking. Better google ranking, more traffic, more money for ads on their sites. It's really that simple.

Usually it is an automated system that is registering for forums and making the posts. Once they find a weakness they actually take advantage of it and the spam will seem to exponentially grow until you get the weakness corrected.

Why does it even need to be given any thought? Ignore it! Too many other threads and subjects to be interested in than this gibberish! Why care or am I missing something:confused:

No, you aren't missing a damn thing. Like others I merely ignore those posts, I certainly don't open them. While I think I certainly have a good firewall, why give it/them an opportunity.
