downundermatt Posted April 11, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2016 So we finally got our vacation dates approved and can finally book our dream cruise three weeks out and guess what, now we have the dates approved the cruise is full ? From experience what chance do we have of some late cancellations - am looking at early May in the Med ...... ? We have two dates in mind, or frankly should we look elsewhere ? blueblock Posted April 11, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2016 I would suggest expanding your search to other cruise lines. If it's only a few weeks until your cruise, a ship that is sold out is likely to stay sold out.
leaveitallbehind Posted April 11, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2016 (edited) Cancellations could happen but are unlikely unless a medical situation or unavoidable change of plans takes place with a booked reservation. Most cruises sail full and the situation you find yourself in is the risk you run with waiting to book near to sailing dates and past final payment date. Most people plan their cruises several months to a year or more in advance to assure a stateroom of choice on an itinerary of choice. I would start looking elsewhere or move your sail dates further out. Edited April 11, 2016 by leaveitallbehind
CruiserBruce Posted April 11, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 11, 2016 Last minute airfares might be killers....
paul929207 Posted April 11, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 11, 2016 Your chances of getting a cabin are not too good. Final payment is well past. You should be checking other cruises to see what might be available.
MCC retired Posted April 12, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 12, 2016 A Med Cruise will be more itinerary oriented than ship . Do check other cruise lines asap.
downundermatt Posted April 13, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted April 13, 2016 Thanks for the advice - suppose things happen for a reason, and it's the gamble of booking late in the cruise ship roulette. Have found a similar cruising (albeit on Norwegian) who knows may be a welcome change after eight loyal years in Celebrity .... and the price is right !
