Smoking on oasis class

You are missing the point. Refer to a basic economic textbook to see the economic argument against gambling specifically. HINT. Society would be better off, if instead of taxing nonproductive gambling to build roads, the taxes came from income tax on productive enterprises.

Actually with so many people not agreeing with you lately it just might be you who is missing the point.

Perhaps you need to back away from your keyboard for a bit ?

Celebrity does not allow indoor smoking and every night the casino was packed.

We've not cruised on Celebrity but have our first cruise scheduled for 2017. I've just begin to study up a bit on X, and I've noticed that while they do not allow for smoking in the casino, they do allow smoking in a couple of the bars. Is this correct? I believe they were considered outdoor or patio type bars.

I'm not sure about what economists would say about cruising in general or about a cruise line incorporated in Liberia. In addition since gambling is a big revenue for cruise lines I am pretty sure if there was no gambling the cost of cruising would be higher. (Disney).

Yes, and not surprising since they are both senseless addictions.,

For a minute there, I thought the 2nd senseless addiction was cruising!

I admit I'm addicted. 25 Cruises over 25 years of Marriage.. Figure 2-3k (including transit, shore and on board expenses) for the half we did as a couple, 4 to 5k for the other half where the kids came along. Say, 3.5, times 25, about 90 grand... More than I'm planning to spend for either kid's college, house could be twice as paid off, would never have had a car payment or credit card balance...

But I share this addiction with you so I guess it's ok.

Why not find out what economists think by reading a basic economics textbook. Also , read the book "A Random Walk Down Wall Street" by Burton Malkiel and you will never be a victim of investment schemes.

I smelled only the faintest hint of smoke in the casino, and other than a few smokers on deck, didn't encounter anything related to smoking on board.

We could smell the casino all over deck 4 and in the elevator lobby up to deck 15. The deck port side was the outdoor smoking section and it was also heavily utilized.

WHY have you brought up investment schemes?

Well if that's your reasoning lets close all the bars, shops, and restaurants on board so we can go spend more money on cheap souvenirs on shore.

You're right, it doesn't affect you and you shouldn't care how others spend their money. Go clean the cat litter.

A stooooopid response.

You need to lighten up. The guy just wanted to know if smoking was allowed in the casino and have some fun while in there. It's his money. Gambling is legal and smoking is allowed in the casinos so why do you even care? Oh, that's right you are trying to make sure everyone does what you think they should do with their money. Our society would be better off if everyone got off their lazy butts and worked, people didn't have babies who can't afford them, parents took care of their kids like they should, education was more important than it is, people didn't do or sell drugs, etc, etc. This is a forum regarding cruising. You need to find one where others are interested in discussing those things and it ain't here. :D

They do allow smoking in a couple of outdoor bars. I have cruised on X a couple of times, but I can't tell you the names or locations since I don't smoke.

Heck yea they do. Smoking and gambling go together like peanut butter and jelly !!!

 I thought it was gambling and drinking? Maybe all 3 is better. So is that like peanut butter, jelly and bacon? :D

Yes, and not surprising since they are both senseless addictions.,

I'm so sorry that I've opened a can of worms everyone.

I'm Pete ...... and I'm a smoker 😕

I still enjoy the social aspect of it and I don't want to give up yet.

But I'm enjoying all this "off piste" chat too x

Nah, no need to apologize. Maybe the ones who should apologize are the ones who just couldn't resist the chance to judge, criticize or lecture rather than giving a simple yes or no.

Russian roulette also has a tremendous social aspect but you do need to

recruit new players all the time.

Never tried it myself .......

But I love playing the quarters and splits on a "zero" wheel (which I might add they had 2 of onboard ovation when I was on there the other week).

I'm a smoker

I'm a drinker

I'm a gambler

I have never been in a casino that allows LEGAL smoking

I don't think I would like it.

I go outside at home to have a chuff.

I have never meet a smoker that dosent consider the feelings or rights of a non-smoker.

I smoke in designated smoking areas, I don't smoke on balconies, it can be offensive to my neighbours, and a fire hazard.

I go to my designated smoking area.

I am treated like a leper, I don't care what the CRUSADERS think,im not breaking any law.

BUT WHAT I FREAKIN CARE ABOUT IS WHEN NON-SMOKERS,COME INTO MY LEGALLY DESIGNATED SMOKING AREA AND BUNG ON A FREAKIN TURN,AND THEN THEY GET OFF THE SHIP AND CRAWL AROUND A SMOG AND CO2 INFESTED AIR FILLED DOWNTOWN AREA AND DONT BAT AN EYE-LID.THEN THEY PROBABLY LET THEIR FERAL RUG-RAT SWIM IN THE POOL WITH DIAPERS ON AND THEN IT GETS CLOSED DOWN FOR A CPL DAYS.OR THEN GO AND TOUCH FOOD IN THE BUFFET WITH THEIR DIRTY HANDS,FOOD THAT I MIGHT JUST EAT.THE SAME NON-SMOKERS THAT WILL SIT ROUND A CAMP FIRE AND HAVE NO PROBLEM.

You see what im doing is legal, and im doing it in the designated area.

I have never seen a smoker who doesn't consider the rights and comforts of a non-smoker.

2Cats you and I just swing different ways, that's okay. I disagree with your opinions on this subject, but as a fellow American I respect your opinions. What I don't like is how you want to control how other people spend their $$$ !!!

I'm pretty confident I know a decent amount about economics, and I can sit here and say yes there are economic pitfalls related to casinos. I won't judge anyone who walks into a casino though and wastes their money. For me, its entertainment - I do it 3-4 times a year when traveling.

Don't worry about how I choose to spend my $. Doing just fine.

There are alcoholics all over this country, should we ban alcohol? Hell no, because most of us enjoy responsibly. There are morbidly obese people wasting away, using our tax dollars to sit there all day. Should we get rid of fast food? No!
