Best Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale

Recommended Posts

We really liked Embassy Suites on SE17th St. They allowed us an early check in - they just gave us the next available room after we arrived, no additional fee. There is a large shopping center behind the hotel, and there are many other shops/eateries within walking distance.

I like either

1. holiday inn express (offers free breakfast)

2. candlewood suites

they are both located on state route 84

directly across the street is a resteraunt/ bar called slackers that is very good, next door to that is a grocery store and also a couple fast food places.. Wendy's, McDonalds, and Dunkin donuts

Room rates are typically around 100.00 per night

Early check-in will be dependent on how busy the hotel was the night before and how quickly people check out in the morning ... unless you are in a high loyalty tier for a specific chain, odds are that that will never be guaranteed. Most hotels won't make you wait until the specified check-in time, though when they place you may depend on the availability of the room type you've paid for and the number of people waiting for a room ahead of you.

Are you looking to stay closer to the port or near the beach and the action of Ft. Lauderdale? If you want to be by the beach, we always stay at the Westin Ft. Lauderdale Beach Resort as it's located on the beach (well, technically across the street but they have a direct bridge access) and it's close to fun restaurants and shops. There is also the W, Ritz Carlton, Hilton and several other nice resorts in that area as well but you'll pay more.

Personally like the Embassy Suites, or anything on 17th Street; however, depends what you mean by "best" ...... Are you looking for convenience, price, transportation, dining, beach, luxurious?

Early check in can be dependent on previous day and if they were at capacity. Also helps to have loyalty status with a specific chain.

We love both the Marriott Harbor Beach and the Hyatt Regency Pier 66.

Marriott = on the beach and can have ocean view room...

Hyatt = Really nice grounds / pool area, some interesting on premise dining options.

That whole area is great due to the availability of the Hop on - Hop Off trolley. The trolley goes up and down 17th and down the Ft. Lauderdale strip.

So best depends on what you are looking for.

We also prefer to stay at the Embassy Suites. It is so convenient to stores and restaurants and breakfast is included. If you like fresh seafood, Kelly's Landing is great.

When we were there last month, they were charging $8 per person for the shuttle to port. We decided not to wait until the shuttle was filled and took a taxi instead and it only cost $ 7.80 (we had almost no traffic into the port since the Oasis was the only ship that day).

Same here like the Embassy suite, taxi is cheaper than there shuttle, our fare was also under 10. I sure there are more elegant hotels but we like happy hour and a really nice breakfast

Really like Embassy Suites. Stayed there for several cruises. Excellent seafood restaurant, Kelly's Landing, is an easy walking distance from the hotel. Just behind the hotel is a Publix and Duffy's, a sports bar and grill, as well as some shops. The Sun Trolley also picks up in front of Publix, and is a cheap and easy way to get down to the beach. I would suggest asking this question on the Florida board. There is a wealth of information there. Have a great cruise.

HI it's going to be my first cruise leaving from Fla. What is the best hotel to stay at the night before the cruise? I need early check-in and nears stores and restaurant? Thank you

Most will say Embassy suites.

Fairfield Inn and Suites! Free shuttle service from airport and to the pier.

Is this the one in Dania Beach? If so, the shuttle to the pier was extra cost for us last year. Maybe a new policy?
