just returned from the best ship ever! all good, food delicious and plentiful. staterooms great, the cruise director Tyler was so good and all of the employees are so friendly and go out of their way! the only complaint that I have is the cigarette smoke in the Casino is pretty bad. you can smell it as soon as you leave the elevators. need better ventilation there. other than that, it is a fabulous ship ! and I am sold on NCL now. it was my first time on the line and I will be back!!

We also just got off the Escape and have to agree about the smoke smell. The casino area covers so much deck space where people can smoke, there's no way it doesn't flow into other areas. We certainly wouldn't eat dinner outside Le Bistro area, and by the end of the week could hardly party at Skyline bar as much as we would have liked to because of it. Great week and lots of good times! That moon and being at sea is what makes cruising easy to do over and over and over again....Getaway next for us!

Know that the Getaway has the same configuration as Escape so the smoke smell coming from the casino is the same on both ships.

With the exception that Skyline is open to the casino while Bliss on Getaway and Breakaway is somewhat separated by doors and a corridor.

 

Outdoor seating at Bistro is a problem on all three hulls.

Thanks for reporting back :) May I ask what other cruiselines/ships you have sailed? That will help a bit with perspective when you say this is the best ship. I am curious to see whether it will kick Oasis/Allure out of first place for us. We will find out next month... can't wait. :D

we have sailed Princess, Celebrity, and Royal Carribean. and once many years ago on the Norway, when it was new. but the Escape was by far the most beautiful, friendly, and lively ship for us. the food was amazing, even strip steaks on the buffet! and our cruise director Tyler was awesome. the crew welcomes you back at the ports with cold towels and jello and songs! as you are walking back on. amazing.

Supposedly NCL put in a separate, enclosed and ventilated smoking area in the casino back in November, but I'm still seeing lot of reports of smoking odor in the rest of the casino and surrounding areas.

 

I guess we'll find out next week...

That welcome back to ship with the cold towels, drinks and music is awesome!:cool: Sometimes you are docked next to another ship and their poor passengers do not get anything like that.
