luddite Posted July 16, 2016 #2201 Share Posted July 16, 2016 Just go back to like post 30 or so and start reposting whatever's there. Nobody's reading it anyway. It will be fresh and new. Naw. I can't get it to 4000 by myself. Everyone needs to pull their weight. We know they're capable......they carry cases of water and pop onto a vacation venue so they're obviously in good physical shape.

We know they're capable......they carry cases of water and pop onto a vacation venue so they're obviously in good physical shape. I really don't see what all the fuss is about. Most people now have the UBP, and for free, which includes your sodas. Granted that doesn't cover water, but still ... we carried water onboard once. It was a hassle, and I personally would rather just buy it onboard.
Lorey2007 Posted July 16, 2016 #2203 Share Posted July 16, 2016 I was informed by my PCC that you can get a 20oz bottle of water for $2.50 plus 18% at any of the bars. You cannot prepurchase the 20oz size. And there is no caffeine free Pepsi-Cola.
Sizzlechest Posted July 16, 2016 #2204 Share Posted July 16, 2016 Most people now have the UBP, and for free, which includes your sodas. That gives me an idea... Everyone affected by the change shall take part in the "NCL Soda Party." Everybody with the UBP get your "free" soda each day at noon and dump it down the drain in protest. Do it conspicuously in front of the NCL staff. If they ask why, tell them, "Spite." There's nothing they can do about it since you've technically paid for it (including the gratuities). triptolemus Posted July 16, 2016 #2205 Share Posted July 16, 2016 My guess it's a security issue like airline rules. All you getting your panties in a bunch, find another mode of vacation or suck it up. Sheesh.

Rare GeezerCouple Posted July 16, 2016 #2207 Share Posted July 16, 2016 My guess it's a security issue like airline rules. All you getting your panties in a bunch, find another mode of vacation or suck it up. Sheesh. Airlines don't let you bring wine bottles on board. Nothing over something like 3 ounces. And there are some people who do make their own wine... point being that if one wants to do so, it's not that difficult to find ways to "recork and seal" a wine bottle... And if NCL can allow one 750 ml wine bottle of "liquid", why not one smaller bottle - or can - of beverage of choice? It's not really that there are fewer wine bottles. NCL has NO way to "screen" those bottles, so they are more "dangerous" given the volume of each.

No, airlines are in the transportation industry, cruise lines are in the hospitality industry. The primary purpose of each is vastly different and it's the primary purpose that dictates which industry they fit in (after all you can watch a movie on a plane but that doesn't mean that the airline is in the entertainment industry). UBP isn't FREE you still need to pay service charge. Other cruise line it's included Secondly, majority of people aren't willing to pay their exorbitant price. We don't feel $82 for a case is justifiable.

Never the less those clever NCL pirates of the Caribbean have got their booty out of you either by raising prices or restricting the type of revenue beverages that can be brought aboard limiting your selections to their own extremely overpriced private stock ! So if you have that UBP drink as much as you can tolerate - drink the real expensive stuff just under the threshold of what is permitted and you don't have to finish what you ordered - but it would an Irish shame to do so ! This may backfire but at least you will have had your pound or is that liter of spite extracted from them.

You cannot prepurchase the 20oz size. And there is no caffeine free Pepsi-Cola. No, noooooooo. Your PCC didn't tell the whole truth. You need to get your hands on the CAS drink card :p - then, it's free, Bar 21 on the Breakaway. Just need to be at the casino "playing" get 2 bottles of 20 oz. Aquafina at a time if there is 2 of you, each with the card. No 18% gratuity either, complimentary with the card. Cash tipping going directly to the bar crew serving you. That's the secret promotion, except that it can be rather costly for the players. The guy sitting next to us at the table was getting Red Bull as well. Just remember, not just any of the bars onboard - only the casino bars ... the drink runners will get whatever you like ... well, almost. via Nexus 5X, Google Fi / WiFi network on Tapatalk, VPN secured Edited July 16, 2016 by mking8288

CUontheC Posted July 16, 2016 #2221 Share Posted July 16, 2016 I was very surprised at this new change. I do no drink alcohol because of the meds I take and I don't drink pop either. So I do not get the UBP. I drink water and tea. I need water every morning to take my pills. And I need to take it to keep hydrated because of my medical condition. I hope it is true that I can bring a container and fill it with water onboard. But I thought I remember seeing at the buffet that they did not allow you to fill containers. Is this correct? Is there other areas on the ship to fill a container? I wouldn't mind purchasing it from NCL but the price is way out of line. I was on Princess in March and they were so reasonable in their price to purchase water that I bought it from them. I really hope that NCL will review this and if they will not let us bring it onboard then at least be a little reasonable with the cost.

You may fill it at the buffet, you just need to fill a glass and pour it into your bottle- you can't fill the bottle directly from the spout (or at least you shouldn't). Last time I visited my son's college I noticed that the water fountains were set up to refill sports bottles, you set the bottle down and pushed the button and the bottle was filled without touching the water dispenser. It would be nice if NCL invested in something like that, although I doubt that would happen.

When you get right down to it people complaining about not being able to bring on soda and water is petty also, yet here we are.;) I think NCL underestimated exactly how important this issue is to their passengers. You can fill your water bottle by using the melted ice from your ice bucket. Harriet
