Rude.

JulesSS...

You can't say anything negative or CC will remove it; not even the word you used. Only special people can say things like that...let's see if you are special, but usually you can only infer and that is not what you did...

Yes, but you didn't say whether he CAN still pole vault!!! I encourage DH to believe he can do anything he wants to......he's just not allowed to actually DO it. :D (Hydrokitty)

He said that first he needs to have a shoulder and tendon operation; he loves that you said he can do anything he wants to... Now that's scary![/quote

Mine had that surgery on both shoulders...give him our best from NY....as for you? You have my sympathies....this is a long and very uncomfortable recovery....make sure you have an adequate supply of wine...or xanax...and the mini-ice machine is worth all the trouble. Trust me.

An ancient Indian religion that preaches non-violence towards all living things whenever possible.

From Google ::

Jainism is an ancient religion from India that teaches that the way to liberation and bliss is to live a life of harmlessness and renunciation. The aim of Jain life is to achieve liberation of the soul.

Thank you for your explanations of Jain. I would imagine people in such a group would be on the quiet, contemplative side.

I thought of googling the definition after I made the post. But, I figured I would leave the post up as others might have the same question. For the person who googled instead of posting, I did not interpret the content your post as rude, as it reflected what I thought after the fact. The big grin emoticon? Well...

I've taken cruises during early spring break season. I never noticed the kids until one day. They were in the elevator going to dinner and at the ping pong table and in the cafeteria and in the kids club. We were surprised when we learned the number of kids on board. If they are well behaved, which most kids are, no one notices.

Rude.

In my opinion, what is rude, is an OP that throws a stone in the pound and then disappears and who never comes back to explain its position or reply to comments or questions.

We now have a discussion of various complains shooting to many targets without any specific topic. Useless.

We cruised to Bermuda on Summit in late July. There were kids galore all over the ship. We just avoided them as much as possible. Late seating, traditional dining helps. We spent most of the time in the Solarium, Martini Bar, Cellar Masters, Sunset Bar, Casino, etc, etc, etc. -- places where kids don't frequent. Stay away from the buffet. :)

That's a problem also. You shouldn't have to avoid them. The parents need to control their kids so they aren't disruptive to other passengers.

......Yes, school breaks, summer vacations are not the ideal time to cruise, but we all can't go whenever we please. ;)

.....Maybe they should take longer cruises...and during months where children are in school. Just a thought...

What a terrible thought it is. Why should people have to make their plans around these yard apes? It has nothing to do when people cruise or how long the cruise is. It has everything to do with the parents lack of consideration for others and their lack of parenting skills. I know others will give me crap about my comments, but those are the ones that will probably fit the description.

Someone said that is how the kids use up their energy. Why not have them run around the track a few times? Probably won't be so annoying to others after a few laps.

It sounds like the issue is the large Jain group not just the kids. If half the ship is a group with many kids, and the crew is catering to that group, including limiting food choices at buffet and closing public venues for their use, that is not what you expect from Celebrity.

We were on that cruise as well and while we did not see the issues the staff made multiple announcements regarding parents needing to control their kids. We heard them after the shows, in the daily celebrity today paper, and even the captain's daily announcement.

Our 14 yo daughter mostly spent time with us and we spent a large part of that in Cosmos reading and watching the scenery so really not sure what the issue was.

The Jain group seemed just like any other normal group to me. Some were pretty rowdy, some weren't. I don't think one can infer that a group should be contemplative/quiet just based on their religion/world view. Again, we didn't run into any specific issues (well, one....but it was more related to the group size as they were all moving from one end of the ship to the other and not letting anyone cross their 1000 person strong flow).

Can anyone tell me if there may be many young ones aboard on next years April 3 cruise to Southern Caribbean? It ends on Easter Sunday. Just curious. I'm "elderly" now, but did have 5 kids of my own.

Yes but probably not many since it's a 14 day cruise.

I did learn something from this thread.

I will ALWAYS check our cruises before cancellation date for certain groups. Fortunatly, we are switching from Celebrity to HAL for our next cruise and with the insurance we can cancel up to the sailing.

On the other hand, we almost always book long cruises so we rarely encounter groups any more. All the groups we have encountered in the past have been very nice and sometimes we did not know there was a large group until we were talking with someone from the group and they told us. But I still want to know ahead of time and exercise my right to cancel if I feel it is necessary. Why spend thousands of dollars to be miserable.

Just my opinion.

Sorry to the OP that Celebrity allowed this to happen and was a part of it. I would be beyond ticked off. Sure Celebrity says they have the right to change things, but to change things to cater to one huge group is beyond WRONG. They should have had to book the entire ship if they wanted to be catered to like that. As for allowing them to break the rules and then to call your daughter out is discrimination. Plain and simple.

Celebrity comes on here to address people asking about short beds and other some what minor issues. I have never seen them have the guts to address such an issue as this in a public forum. Would love to hear their explanation. Won't hold my breath since I would die.
