Cuizer2 Posted September 6, 2017 #657 Share Posted September 6, 2017 Well i can speak from experience, i was a child once and the diamond club was the last place on the ship i would like to be hanging out with oldies ;pTrouble :halo: I was a child once too, I think - it was a very long time ago. I do not see anything in the DL, CL, or SL that would interest a child. However, it is not my position to tell people what they should and should not like. I mean, some people enjoy eating fungus (aka mushrooms), snails (aka escargot), and squid (aka calamari). Note that they had to give these things fancy names to get people to eat them because if the waiter or waitress came up to most people and asked, would you like some snails, the people would get up and leave and not leave any tip. Now, since I am not really in the DL, CL, or SL that much, I have not run into any of the horror stories that many people have. In fact, I cannot remember any children bothering me. I can recall two adults that did, but to be fair, one was on a jet (the other was on a cruise ship). Imagine my surprise when I was able to escape by saying it was time to go to dinner, only to find out she was assigned to the same table as I was. About the time I was ready to change tables for the first time, she beat me to it. So I can honestly say I have never had to change tables because of my table mates (or any other reason for that matter).

bigtaz105 Posted September 6, 2017 #660 Share Posted September 6, 2017 Do they know about the free pizza and soft serve ice cream? Yes, they do. They know the layout of every class of ship Royal has, except Anthem, which they will have down pat before the first cruise day on our October cruise. They know the ships better than I do, and I'm Diamond plus. They are quite the little cruisers. Believe me they learn their manners from mom and dad, but Grampy is not a pushover. I remember when the little one was but 3 years old in his tuxedo for formal night, my husband didn't appreciate it when he started fussing in the dining room and was immediately picked up and escorted out of the dining room to go "shark fishing" until he had an attitude adjustment. They both returned in much better moods 10 minutes later and we all had a nice quiet dinner! The middle one who is 6 years old prefers escargot to pizza. Our daughter and son-in-law have 5 1/2 year old triplet boys and they are strict. If they were in the DL and one or more acted up, it would be "time-out"
Rare John&LaLa Posted September 6, 2017 #663 Share Posted September 6, 2017 Why is Adventure Ocean listed as an alcohol free zone? If there is something wrong with alcohol, why are we allowing children in the lounges during happy hour. If there is something wrong with alcohol, why are we allowing children in the lounges during happy hour. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Forums mobile app John, you know that Royal has tried very hard to develop it reputation for being inconsistent. Now how would it look if they were suddenly consistent about something. A slip up like that could cost them years of hard work. As you no doubt remember, during the happy hour(s) before each dinner seating, Royal did exclude those under 18 or 21 (I don't remember which) from the DL. Now there is new management and the new management realized that this consistency could hurt their reputation, so they "relaxed" the rule. Just for clarification, the picture below was taken aboard the Liberty OTS in April 2016. Read the sign on the top ...

Rare island lady Posted September 6, 2017 #670 Share Posted September 6, 2017 (edited) Yes, we are not children haters, we just hate the behavior of children who act up and parents do nothing. Totally agree there. Those are the parents that ruin it for others...and are too lazy to teach their children the proper manners that they will need for the future. Rare island lady Posted September 6, 2017 #671 Share Posted September 6, 2017 Agree -- parents who don't parent are becoming more prevalent unfortunately. RCI needs to give the concierge the leeway to ask these parents to control their kids' behavior. It's a shame that it should have to come to that. It should not be the concierge's job to be a babysitter...to both the unruly children and the ignorant parents...but that is what is having to happen more and more. :(

Rare LMaxwell Posted September 6, 2017 #675 Share Posted September 6, 2017 If Adventure Ocean were one same time as lounge some of these issues could be mitigated. Still waiting to hear what constitutes an adult conversation. What has a bridge tour got to do with anything?
