We're going on our first cruise on Navigator next week and wanted to know about the electric supply in the cabins. As Brits we have 3 prong plugs and I'm wondering if we need European or USA adaptors ??

Ships have US and European style plugs.

220v european round pin outlets, and 110v US outlets, so your electronics are fine on the 110v, but hair dryers, while they may be dual voltage, will not perform well on the 110v.

I can never remember what sockets different ships have - I don't need to know, I take a universal adapter.

Available from Argos, Boots & other outlets for around £10. Suits US/Aus, northern Europe & southern Europe.

 

A short 3 or 4-gang lead is handy too, since there's no more than two spare sockets in a cabin.

Ahhh...Britain was in the EU until just recently (technically still in), but still has different plugs. The correct description is European plugs, or British plugs.

We found this in IKEA yesterday and though it would need an EU or American plug how neat is it?

Being able to charge up 3 devices at once!

Most women will disagree, including my daughters, but I just use the hair dryer provided in the cabin. I have short hair and it works just fine. Saves me worrying about the plug AND saves luggage space.
