Bill S Posted July 31, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 31, 2016 On July 18, we mailed (regular 1st class) our passports, applications & checks to the State Dept. for renewals. Our check cleared about days later. When we picked up our mail yesterday, July 30, our new passports were here! 12 day turnaround! Wow! We did not ask for priority processing, either. Well done, State Department! :)

Krazy Kruizers Posted July 31, 2016 #3 Share Posted July 31, 2016 That is a great turn around time. A couple of years ago we both sent our passports in on the same day for renewal. I got mine back in about 2 weeks. DH's came back in about 6 weeks.

Capt_BJ Posted July 31, 2016 #5 Share Posted July 31, 2016 btw ... did you know that the passport agency does NOT run on tax dollars? It is self sufficient on the fee you pay ...... and presently they use 'priority mail' for your return so it is traceable .... well done State Department as someone else said ...... hmmmm .... positive changes in the State Department in the recent past ...... Hmmmmmm

pghsteelerfan Posted August 1, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 1, 2016 We're going to be renewing ours very shortly but just curious, do you get the previous passports back? We have ours stamped with a couple of trips where we had fond memories.
freestyling Posted August 1, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 1, 2016 You receive the old passport back shortly after you receive the new ones. There will be a hole punched in the old passport thru the corner
