Question about B2B

We had already reserved a cabin on the Ruby Princess for next year in May to go to Alaska out of Seattle.

 

This weekend the Wife was poking around on her computer and located information that we could catch the Ruby one day early in Vancouver and do a B2B.

 

She checked with Princess and signed us up for the one day cruise in our same cabin.

 

While on the phone she had the princess POC reserve for us one of the Block of rooms that Princess has at the Freemont Waterfront Hotel in Vancouver. So, we are good to go.

 

Now, on to my question.

 

For you people who have done B2B cruises, just how does Princess handle the passengers on the B2B concerning leaving the ship and getting back on?

The b2b's I have been on were simple. If you are lucky and are staying in the same cabin for both legs, you just get up in the morning and report to the venue they tell you to with your passports. They have a list of all back two backers. Usually they send something to your cabin explaining everything. They will lead you off the ship to go through immigration and then bring you right back on board. :D Love b2b's

And you don't have to attend the muster drill on the 2nd leg (if you don't want to)

This question can not be answered unless the port is known. Each country has their own laws. If you are speaking about a U.S. port then yes, you must go through immigration. If you are on a tour you will be escorted to immigration as a group.

But - even when staying in the same cabin for a B2B or B2B2B with confirmed "linked" cruises and checking with Passenger Services - IF you do not attend the 2nd and/or 3rd embarkation day Muster Drill you may get that nasty letter indicating that "Our Records Indicate That You Did Not Attend the (date) Muster Drill", etc. So at times despite being on the same ship, same cabin - so much for Princess knowing about the your linked cruises. No big deal - but not a cruise bright spot.

I always skip the second Muster Drill and never got a nasty letter. Was I just lucky?? BTW I have been on 5 B2B cruises. Now you know I will get one this year. :eek: :eek:

Yes, but not with the Princess group if you are leaving before about 10 AM.

 

When you leave the ship for your tour, you will need to show your passport to immigration. No customs form since this is not the end of your cruise.

 

When you return to the ship (assuming it is after new passengers can board), you go through security and then right back on to the ship.

 

Above assume you are doing this touring in Seattle.

If on a B2B you change rooms you maybe required to attend the second muster drill. A friend of ours had to do this.

For those new to B2B, I was one nervous Nellie the first time we did a B2B. Here is what I learned:

1. Let your steward know that you are a B2B cruiser on day one. He or she will quickly reiterate the following information.

2. A letter will arrive in your cabin THE NIGHT BEFORE YOU ARE ENDING YOUR FIRST LEG OF THE CRUISE!!!!! If you waste your time standing in line at the Purser's Desk, they will tell you the same thing.

3. Belongings: If you are staying in the same cabin, your room remains untouched. If you are moving to a different cabin, you pack up your toiletries and any clothes that are on your shelves and place in your suitcases. A steward will come in with a rolling cart. They will take all the clothes in your closet that are on hangers and then all of your suitcases. They bring them to your new room for you.

4. The letter will say exactly which lounge to go to and a specific time. No one can go through Immigration until all B2B passengers are in the lounge. On our last B2B, a couple was almost 1 hour late and we all had to wait for them. So, please be nice and arrive on time.

5. Immigration: Can be either on board or in the embarkation building. If Immigration is on board, it is usually directly outside the meeting lounge for B2B passengers. After going through Immigration, you are free to roam the ship. If you have to get off the ship, you will be guided by a Princess Rep, and quickly go through Immigration and escorted back on the ship. You get back on the ship before all new pasengers.

6. If you get off the ship to shop, you will have to go through the regular embarkation process.

7. You do not have to do the second Muster Drill. We watched the NFL game while everyone else was at Muster!

In summary, you will be nervous and anxious for the first time doing this. Believe me, relax it will all be easier than you think. Enjoy!!

The above posting describes a U.S. port. The b2b's at non U.S. ports that I have experienced do not include nos. 4, 5 & 6, and are just like any other port day, get off and on as you wish. The OP is not really doing a b2b. Post no. 6 does not detail the port involved, so it isn't possible to provide complete information.

Hmm, as the OP color me confused. If we are not really doing a B2B, what would you call it?

 

We board the Ruby in Vancouver on voyage R719 and sail to Seattle. Then the next day, while remaining in the same cabin, set sail on voyage R720.

If you want to get off of the ship to tour, shop or whatever, you can do so anytime once disembarkation has started (assuming you will be off the ship before the group meeting).

 

You can get back on the ship once new passengers can board, but do not have to go through the embarkation process for new passengers. You go through security and then directly back to the ship.
