Does Reflection seem more crowded than other S class ships?

No, the same number of cabins width wise. I suspect the increase in beam is measured low down in the hull and gives extra stability for the additional guest cabins. Certainly the public spaces look the same.

The majority of the public spaces are located on decks 3,4 & 5 which is "low down in the hull" This would be the widest part of the ship, minus the bridge.

The deck plans show the same space in the public areas. They are not to scale of course and might not be accurate, but if the cabins are the same number across I can't see how that translates to extra space on the lower decks. It's only two feet if is anyway.

I didn't find the Reflection any more crowded than the Eclipse other than the Sky Lounge. That said, there are some areas that I find crowded on both ships such as the Entertainment Court (or whatever it is called just outside the theatre), the Martini Bar and Cafe Al Bacio. It was difficult at times to find a seat or get service or see if anything was going on. Certainly not a deal breaker as we have booked again on the Eclipse. I just don't think that those areas are large enough to serve the purpose they were designed for.

Celebrity tried to sell people on longer and wider but the TRUTH is that Reflection was a few feet longer (if you trust what Celebrity has said???) and wider and PUBLIC areas are Exactly the same and now seating 350+ more passengers. We actually got out our tape-measures and measured blue one day....Same exact size as the Solstice....Reflection is a MUCH more crowded ship....YES!

Its actually the opposite. It has been discussed on here many times. Reflection actually has more space per passenger due to it being longer and wider. Someone on here more inclined can probably post the stats or chart.

Here are the basics:

Celebrity Reflection: Length: 319 m (1,047 ft) Beam:37.4 m (123 ft)

Celebrity Eclipse: Length 317.14 m (1,040 ft 6 in) Beam:36.80 m (120 ft 9 in)

Mainly thinking about the main dining room and buffet.

On our last equinox cruise I thought the buffet seemed crowded in the morning and at lunch. That was a TA.

2013 we were on the Reflection, 2014 & 15 the Equinox. We thought the Equinox felt more crowded.

We found it to be more crowded especially in Luminae. Also noticeable sometimes with the specialty dining in the buffet.

Even though the stats would indicate there is potentially more deck space I would believe there is less -

Reflections has 1,523 cabins with Peak Passenger load of 3,655

Silhouette has 1,443 cabins with Peak Passenger load of 3,463

Other SClass have 1,425 cabins with Peak Passenger load of 3,420

What affects Luminae are the additional Sky Suites

Reflections - 84

All other S-Class - 44

Was Michaels club crowded also?

The truth is each cruise has its own personality mostly decided by the demographics and interests of the passengers. I've been on many back to back cruises where one cruise can have a completely different feel than the next one on the same ship.

Whichever levels are wider (if not all of them) will have about 4,000 more square feet per level based on the information that we have.

So its not just "two feet anyways" its an additional two feet for 128,781 feet. I of course am going off the length that I have. The actual length of each level would differ but regardless its 2 feet for a long length, which adds a lot of space.

If we say that just levels 3,4,5 are the wider ones, which it where the majority of public spaces are than we can say that there is 12,000 more square feet on the reflection of space. Where that space is? who knows. But it is bigger and there is more space, its simple math. Just because you didn't see it or feel it doesn't mean its not there.

It really can boil down to the cruise you were on. I find Caribbean cruises to seem more crowded (especially 7 days cruises) just cause I feel everyone is out of their room more, a more alive atmosphere and more people enjoying a shorter vacation time.

Reflection has an additional deck of cabins. Hence, more passengers with little increase in the size of public areas.

Nope, not true. Reflection has approximately 1/3rd of that deck raised and replaced with cabins. The pool area has been raised one deck higher. Pretty much everything else is the same.

FYI: Reflection is longer and wider to retain stability to compensate for the weight of that 1/3 deck being raised one level higher.

From a Travel Weekly issue dated Jan 8, 2010:

"Hanrahan said the 126,000-ton Reflection (4,000 tons more than the other Solstice-class ships) would be widened by less than one meter.

"It is surprising what just under a meter gives you," he said. "That space is a lot in the dining areas and the theater."

The ship’s theater will have 45 extra seats, and the main dining room will have 40 additional seats. Other additions will be 245 more loungers on an expanded pool deck; 118 more seats in the Oceanview Café; 24 more seats each in Blu and the Tuscan Grille; and four additional seats in Qsine.

The additional deck will be accomplished by moving the pool deck up one level, putting it on the same deck as the Lawn Club.

I was on the 2nd cruise, and compared to the other S class ships, she seemed to be less crowded, even though that cruise was sold out.

Wrong. Reflection has a peak capacity that is about 230 more passengers, not the "350+ more passengers" you claim. Exaggerating facts won't make your opinions more believable.

BTW: who the heck goes on a vacation and starts measuring public areas???? I go on vacation to enjoy myself, not to obsess over a few inches of space.

Thank you for the very good information and summary. The only thing I really noticed was the smaller Sky Lounge.

Was Michaels club crowded also?

Michael's was not more crowded when I sailed last November, as Sky Suites were not yet added to Michael's Club membership. Luminae was so crowded that it was out of control and many suite guests chose to dine in the main dining room because of such poor service. Hopefully they were able to fix this. It left me with a sour taste to Luminae. 2 nights in a row with an advance reservation we were kept waiting 30 minutes. No efforts were made to advise the MC Concierge that they were running late.

MC Concierge was excellent in handling and insisted on escorting us down every night there after to make sure we didn't have a repeat. It did make us feel uncomfortable.

We were in a suite over a month ago on Reflection, and Michaels was never crowded. Luminae was fabulous in terms of food and service. The only issue with Luminae was that there was a large group of 20 or so people all in suites - they were quite loud when they all dined. Luckily they only dined in Luminae a few nights.

So just because you measured one room on one deck and not even a room that spans a whole deck you came to the conclusion and are spreading it as fact? Wow

How do you know the extra space was not given to the the hallway that is outside of Blu, to Tuscan Grille or to Qsine?

And as the poster above mentioned. You actually measured a room on vacation? to each their own but sounds like you are extremely petty.
