jp41813 Posted August 11, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2016 (edited) Hi there! First time cruiser leaving on September 5th. Have a quick question about the sign and sail account. If my husband and i decide to put cash on the account when we get on the ship and don't end up spending all the money is there a way to get our remaining balance back before leaving the cruise? Thanks so much Sent from my iPhone using Forums Edited August 11, 2016 by jp41813
CruiserBruce Posted August 11, 2016 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2016 The ship will give back, usually in the same manner you gave it. So, if you used a credit card, it will probably go back on your card. Some will give cash if requested.
cb at sea Posted August 11, 2016 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2016 Yes,...go to the desk BEFORE the last morning, and take back what you haven't spent. Lines are LONG on the last morning!

Flamencacha Posted August 11, 2016 #5 Share Posted August 11, 2016 Ok I am confused. Can you open a cash account with a debit card. I thought it was strictly cash. You know the green stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
jp41813 Posted August 11, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted August 11, 2016 Flamencacha I'm not sure all i know is when i was doing my online check in they asked are you doing cash for the sign and sail account or will you be using a debit card. My husband and i decided to do cash as it will be easier for us Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Flamencacha Posted August 11, 2016 #7 Share Posted August 11, 2016 Thanks, I know with a debit card they place a lot of holds and then charge you. So if I could open a cash account with a debit card and close out, it would be great. Time to call NCL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ober134 Posted August 11, 2016 #8 Share Posted August 11, 2016 On Carnival you can get back cash at the casino window, but must do it the evening of the last night.
jp41813 Posted August 11, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted August 11, 2016 Ober134 if you do that do you have to play in the casino first or do you just ask them to give you the cash? Sent from my iPhone using Forums

So I guess I won't be spending much on board. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ober134 if you do that do you have to play in the casino first or do you just ask them to give you the cash? On Carnival, there is no reason to use the Casino to get your cash unless you funded your S&S with gift cards. You can withdraw cash from your account at any time at Guest Services or using the kiosk.

kerryincork Posted August 11, 2016 #13 Share Posted August 11, 2016 Credit cards can also be used. I open my account with a credit card, I then pay of my account on board in cash. So I usually have a small amount on my card. Also sometimes I put money on my credit card so I'm in the black and use the card like a debit card

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The problem with using a debit card is the time it often takes for the hold which is placed to be released -- often a week or so after you leave the ship - blame it on the cruise line or the bank, but it takes time, while a credit card charge is completed that day you debark.
