Port Charges doubled!

I called Oceania about their 2 for 1 deals to Alaska in 2017, 7 days in July or August. I'm a solo traveler. The published price for O Life Choice, cat G Inside, is $2099 plus port taxes of $335. But the real price is $3368. Among other things, I have to pay 2 sets of port taxes! I thought port taxes were per person based on the passenger manifest. Anyone know more about this?

When you are sailing solo on a ship without solo cabins pricing is always "interesting". You need to ask for a detailed breakdown of the fare, but based on what you are saying it seems that you are getting a really good deal. I would have expected your fare to be about $4500.

looking at the website a G inside is $1999 pp this includes airfare & taxes etc.

the air credit is usually $400 pp

I would ask for a detailed accounting of the pricing for solo traveller

Are you sure you are being charged the port fees twice ??

Oceania usually rolls the port fees into the price shown on the website /brochure which also includes airfare

Have you called them to ask about the double port charges or are you just guessing. Port charges should be per person, not per cabin.

Just my rough guesstimate

fare is $2099 pp

single sup is 100% so total fare $4198

then reduce that by 1 airfare credit of $400

fare would be $3798 if double port fee/taxes were charged

the fare the op is charged $3368

leaves a difference of $430 ???

I guess will wait for the OP to return with correct pricing

A rep from Oceania replied to my question:

"The 2 for 1 pricing is based on the “full” brochure fare, so the advertised price is the per person rate based on double occupancy. So yes unfortunately, the single rate does include port fees and taxes for 2 people, however the air is calculated for only 1 person. We do offer select sailings that are not the full single supplement and those are listed on the website http://www.oceaniacruises.com …then under view… all offers, then scroll to the very bottom of the offers..."

Having said that, they do have unusual Alaskan ports which look very interesting, and a low single supplement is a plus.

Thank you to everyone who took their time to help me.
