Questions re: back-to-back cruises

 Share

Recommended Posts

We are booked on B2B Allure cruises in November. We are booked in the same cabin for both cruises. A few questions:

- How does check-in work for B2B cruises? Do we check in for both at one time?

- Do we need to leave the ship for a time during the turn-over between cruises?

If we aren't required to, I assume we can if we want to? Are we limited in where we can go on the ship during this time?

- Will our sea pass cards be good for the whole two weeks, or will we be issued new ones for the second cruise?

Anything else I need to know about B2B cruises that I haven't thought to ask?

:)

RCI and the US Customs consider each leg as a separate itinerary requiring Customs clearance. B2B guests will meet on the final day of the first leg at a designated time in a specified lounge and as a group will be escorted off the ship and through customs and back on the ship. Very short process. You can then have free access to your same stateroom or anywhere else on the ship. You bypass the normal embarkation lounges in this manner.

Your Seapass is only good for the one week. You will give them your SetSail papers for the second leg either to Guest Services or a check in agent, whoever gives you your new card. Some ships will carry everything over to the second leg and leave your new card in your stateroom the night before. You'll get a new card for the second leg. You have to ding out with the old one when you're escorted off to close your account so Immigration can get a zero count. Then you're given the new card to ding back on for the second part. You can chill out in public areas or your cabin. Nothing will be open until boarding starts (around 11 am). If you leave the terminal, you will have to go back through security when you return.

It's neat being on a quiet ship. There's elevator music playing softly through out and you'll hear various announcements for the crew. My favorite is from Engineering warning that they are about to test the emergency generators so don't use the elevators.

Although I always take it with me, I have NEVER needed that second SetSail Pass.

You will be told your procedures on your specific ship either via letter in your cabin or during a meeting on or about day 6 of the first cruise.

Since you have the same cabin for both legs, you are golden. ;)

We have just come off a B2B on Oasis - we had the same cabin for the 2 weeks, we didn't need the second set of set sail docs at all, I was super efficient and had them ready to go if needed, I asked and even though it looks like 2 separate cruises RCI know that they are linked so one doesn't need to do anything. It was very efficient process. Do go to the info session for people on B2B as it was very informative and will calm any fears you might have, it usually happens the day before you get back to port.

Don't worry about changing cabins they have it down to a fine art, you shouldn't need to pack everything as they will explain it all to you onboard. If you booked both cruises at the same time with the same TA there shouldn't be an issue - have fun [emoji924]

Thanks for that, I'm sure you're right, they would have this covered, although we did use 3 x different TA's lol

Ovation of the Seas-

1st leg is a chartered cruise I found online from Perth to Sydney 6th Dec to 15thDec16.

2nd leg was through flight centre - Christmas Cruise 15thDec from Sydney to NZ returning Sydney 30thDec.

finally NYE cruise 30thDec Sydney to NZ (different ports) returning Sydney 9th Jan 2017, which was through a lovely lady I was chatting with in CC, as her friend is a TA who had specials lol

Really looking forward to it, as a lot of firsts, as in first with RCCL, sailing over Christmas + NYE & first proper holiday with my partner.

WooHoo happy cruising everyone [emoji41]

We did our first b2b two years ago and really enjoyed it. We did check with Guest Relations during the first cruise to verify we were down as consecutive. During your Online Check in be sure and indicate your Consecutive on the final page where it asks how you plan to disembark.Your cruise sounds amazing.

If we have not somehow linked our two cruises, do we need to? Does RCI know somehow? We booked through a TA. TIA for any info.

We have had several b2b cruises, the last in Sept on Allure. Having had a failure and knowing others who have had them, on the 2nd or 3rd night of the first cruise we go to guest services and verify the ship is aware we are staying on. We have found mistakes happen. NEVER Assume

Thank you for posting this! I was focused on filling out our flight arrangements and totally missed the 'consecutive cruiser' option! Now we are all set...

We always take our second SetSail boarding pass with us also. Since we carry on 4 bottles of wine, we have been asked to show it for our B2B. Not sure what would have happened if we did not have a copy for the second cruise.

Since you will be in the US (specifically Port Everglades) yes you have to leave the ship. Rules vary in foreign ports.

Most B2Bs will walk off as a group as the last passengers off and the first on. If you want to spend the day ashore, you may leave as early as the first people off. If you don't go with the group, check with Guest Relations to see what the procedure is for getting your new SeaPass.

Passenger Services will know, and give you an info sheet with details. You may or may not have a cocktail party to meet staff and get information on the first cruise.

You should DEFINITELY link your cruises when you fill out the online information! On the first cruise when listing your end of cruise transportation there is an option for continuing cruiser. When you select this a lot of information from that cruise will transfer to the second. On the second cruise you put continuing cruiser in the beginning of cruise transportation section. If you don't do this you get to fill out personal information twice. Note that Royal's web site can be flaky, so if this doesn't work don't be surprised.

We are booked on B2B Allure cruises in November. We are booked in the same cabin for both cruises. A few questions:

- How does check-in work for B2B cruises? Do we check in for both at one time? they are two distinct cruises so you must literally depart the ship at the end of the first cruise and process the second cruise. you will do this as soon as the last of the passengers leave and you will be taken as a group to re check in and be back on board practically immediately.

- Do we need to leave the ship for a time during the turn-over between cruises?

If we aren't required to, I assume we can if we want to? Are we limited in where we can go on the ship during this time? the physical departure should only be a matter of minutes. the same things that were open when you boarded the first day will be open the second trip with one exception: you actually continue to have access to your cabin.

- Will our sea pass cards be good for the whole two weeks, or will we be issued new ones for the second cruise? again, two separate cruises so two separate sets of cards and two separate bills

Anything else I need to know about B2B cruises that I haven't thought to ask?

:)

depending on how many others will also be cruising B2B, they may offer a private luncheon somewhere so that you can avoid the crush of humanity up at the Windjammer.

any leftover on board credit from the first leg DOES NOT ROLL OVER.

yes you will still have to attend the second Muster.

Unfortunately, we couldn't get the same cabin each time, so very likely changing cabins on each leg. Variety will be fun. Again thanks for the info.

the chances are VERY good that the staff will move your stuff for you the mornings of changeover.

Thanks for the responses, much appreciated. Unfortunately when we did the online check in for the 2nd & 3rd legs of the B2B2B it wouldn't work with the continuing cruiser, could be because we are unable to register the 1st leg until 45 days prior to sailing (chartered cruise), however we will get this corrected when we board.

Cheers
