Only two months left of the year (good or bad?)

Is your goal any where near

Winter will be upon us soon

Lot's of soup eaten by the spoon (good)

Siting by the fire in your PJ's reading a book (kindle)

Maybe knitting or doing crotchet with a hook

Sometimes we want snacks usually sweet or salty food (bad?)

We might eat more than we should but it's so good

Trouble is it's so comfortable we don't want to move a hair

Exercise isn't on our mind we love lounging in the chair (good & bad)

You know what none of US are over weight at ALL

WE would ALL look thinner if WE were just TALLER (right?)

Good morning Belle and everyone.

I'm pleased to report that I'm down 1.5 pounds to 180.5, virtually at my goal weight of 180. I have a feeling next week will be my last week posting to this thread (unless I have to get back to the diet, which is always a possibility). This is a wonderful thread as it's given me the motivation that I've needed to stick with my eating plan, week after week. Thank you, Belle, for keeping this thread going.

For me there are several keys to weight loss.

1. Keep a balanced diet.

2. Find out what you have to do to lose weight (basically eating much less than you're used to).

3. Include snacks (psychologically necessary).

4. When you go out to eat (we all do) watch the carbs.

5. Drink lots of liquids.

6. Include regular exercise.

Hello,

Belle, great poem. Also can't believe it's November.

Cruiserman, goal weight, fantastic! Congrats! We will miss you though. You've been a great addition each week. Hope you pop in now and then.

I stayed the same. Not the worst.

Wishing everyone a good week,

3 weeks until we leave for China. Yeah.

Diana

I promise that I am going to "re-begin" my weight loss journey on November 14, 2016. I have a cruise in April, 2017 and need to lose the weight that I've put on in the last year or so ... I (again) need to lose 40#

This has been interesting times, I retired from work in the spring, went on a great cruise with my sister, in September went on a west coast cruise with DH, my son got married October 22nd. (he is now on a cruise), my DMIL passed away on the 25th (she was 90) ... next week is the memorial service with all of DH's siblings ... so difficult to coordinate all 5 ... coming from all over the county, but the flight into Bangor will have 3 of the "kids" arriving together.

I need to breathe and to take some time for myself ... part of that is to become "healthy" again.

Hope everyone is doing well. Jan

5lbs in one week, I'm beyond ticked off at myself... (to 191 from 186...)

Congratulations Cruiserman, very happy you nailed your goal. Be sure to come check on us bouncers once in a while.

Jan - we'll hold you to it, just let us know what we can do to help (like I'm any example lol).

Eh, guess just got to keep on keepin on...

Losing weight is ONE BIG JOB!

Gaining is SO EASY but losing is so HARD!

Cruiserman.. Congrats at being at goal. Good job!

Don't leave us. Still come in each week and keep

track so you stay at goal. Plus

we will miss you if you leave.

Diana.. Staying the same is always better than a gain.

Your trip is coming soon. Do you do lots of walking

seeing everything? Are you doing the wall again?

You'll get lots of exercise.

Jan.. So good to see you and glad you'll being coming

back in a couple of weeks.

Sorry about your mil but congrats to your son on

his wedding.

But really big congrats on your retirement!! More time

for your self.

shootr.. Sorry, we know these things do happen! Like

I said so easy to gain but so hard to lose. Get right

back on track and your bike riding.

That's why this is a life long thing. We can never give up.

Some reach their goals easy, keep it off and others don't.

Then others will never reach their goals but If they never try

each week they would weigh more.

That's me, with all the things going in my life these past

years I mostly stayed the same each week but don't know

where I would be if for not trying most of the time. Big GAINS

I KNOW! I need to lose but staying the same was the better than gains

these years. I hope the New Year gives me a better frame of mind

and body and I start losing.

I bless all the care givers out there and to people who have

lost people in their lives. Been there done that, not easy I know.

Each day can be a struggle but we can get thru it. Love to ALL.

Down 2.8 lbs this week! yeaaaa!!!!

6.5 lbs to go and just over 5 weeks to accomplish it. I can do this!!!!

My goal for this coming week is to resume running again. It's hard to believe that I had the endurance and strength to run a marathon just 6 months ago! Too much stress and work has wrecked havoc on my body, which I need to reclaim.

Good tips, Cruiserman! Congratulations! Your hard work and persistence is paying off.

Jan: what a busy year! No wonder you got off track!

shootr: I'd just chalk it up to water fluctuation and expect it to see it all gone next weigh in :D

Belle: I always count staying the same as a victory after so many years of the scales going up, up, up! It's funny that I'm struggling and fighting so hard to lose weight now, when I am already at a weight that I could only dream of for so many years! Everything is relative!

good luck everyone!

Thanks friends, I'm just back to eating great most weekdays, then falling off the wagon on the weekends...

My BIL and wife just got back from China and Thailand - they saw really amazing things and I can see adding that to my bucket list - someday. Have a great adventure Diana!

I've looked worse by far, and this will have to do for my step-daughters wedding week after next. At least all my fancy clothes still fit comfortably so mostly my weight bouncing is just mentally bugging me. Very excited for her, he's a very good man and she is heading to London for a year right after due to a promotion. It's so incredible to see your kids spread their wings and realize their dreams.

Another on the plus side - we booked our flights for our 2 week Ireland/Scotland/England trip next May. (not a cruise, but I like the company here so you're stuck with my ramblings...)

I need more variety, so am adding marinades and sauces to my grilled chicken (orange ginger, teriyaki, etc) Problem is they have some sort of sugar in most of them, but it's all the processed sugar I eat, so it's still fairly minimal.

That and my coffee, V8 juice, and salads...as long as the snack food is out of the house, I have a chance...

See you all next week...

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

June.. Congrats on your loss. Your doing

so good. Know you'll lose more for your

cruise in 5 weeks.

shootr.. No matter where you go.. you can't leave

us. We enjoy you to much. We would miss you.

You look good but you could lose a pound or 2

before the wedding if made you feel better.

Cruiserman..You can't leave either. Need people

who do good to tell us it can be done!

Jo and Cruiser .. Where are you two? Your

cruises are over aren't they?

Rose where are you. Know you said you were busy.

Please come in each week. Miss you.

Jan is going to be coming back.

OK where are the rest of YOU? Sorry can't remember all the names

but when you come in.. then I remember you.

WE need to be talking in here each week not just weigh-in day.

Might help us all as the Holidays are here. Help us get thru..

not to eat to much, give tips to each other.

My Tip.. Lock yourself in a room and don't come out till after

New Years! LOL :)

Back up to 182.5 this morning.

I think I was a bit too optimistic on Thursday. Unless I starve myself from now till Thursday I don't think I'll be able to make it down to my goal weight of 180 by then. Also, even if I do get there, there's no way I'll be able to maintain that weight without checking in with you all every Thursday. So you're going to see me around for awhile.

My Tip.. Lock yourself in a room and don't come out till after

New Years! LOL :)

Now - There's a tip that might actually work!

I wanted to post that I am doing the 5:2 diet... well, actually 4:3. That's where you eat "normally" 4 days a week and eat less than 500 cals on 3 non-consecutive days.

I was looking for a diet that would not include much calorie counting or weighing food since I'm a bit over that at the moment, and this is working. I "fast" (under 500 cals) on Monday, WEdnesday and Friday. For me, this has evolved into five 100 cal snacks (popcorn, yogurt, edamame) I eat as low cal as I can on Tues. and Thurs. (meaning I don't count calories but I try to stick to the things I already know I can trust like salads and eat just enough to not feel like I am starving) On the weekend I aim for "normal plus a couple hundred cals" This is so that my body doesn't know it's dieting. I don't know how scientific this is, but I have found that for me my body needs this little deception.

So far it has been working. It took a few weeks for me to adjust to the lower intake, but it has become comfortable now. Wish I had started sooner - but better late than never :D

Hello,

Jo, Welcome Back. Glad you had a nice time.

Good loss June.

Belle, we are not going to Beijing this time. Starting out in Shanghai. We do walk a lot and will also bring a workout outfit to hopefully hit a gym in the hotels.

See everyone on Thursday.

Diana
