We have heard various "explanations" from Celebrity.

I was told my a Michaels Club concierge that Celebrity didn't cancel it, the contractor did.

I was told by Captains Club CSR that Celebrity cancelled it because they got too many complaints about poor service.

I was told by a shoreside Concierge that it was cancelled because not enough people signed up.

Take your pick 😳

I found out that RC- parent company still offering this service, so I emailed CC and CS for an explanation of the reason for discontinuing of this program.

I will post what they have to say. ;)

Thanks Isabella!

I hope they bring it back. It makes for a stress free disembarkation.

On our Silhouette cruise in January, Celebrity did very little to promote this service. There was one paragraph in the daily paper. Passengers that had shore excursions most likely totally missed this information!

If the service is not utilized..then it will be cancelled.

So, seems to me it is the chicken and the egg syndrome ! Which one comes first? Celebrity needed to promote this service. We had absolutely no problems...we put the luggage tags on our bags. Set them out the last night. Our bags showed up at our home airport!

It was definitely worth the cost not to have to drag our bags through the port and into the airport!

That parallels my experience. Their promotion usually was half hearted.

Only on one ship did I see it run with a more positive procedure. After the passengers filled out their disembark forms giving their airline and destination and flight times, everyone who was eligible got the Luggsge Valet form delivered to their stateroom. Only saw that done on Eclipse last winter.

Celebrity and the vendor should have done more to promote this great service - from the time we book to the first few, days of the cruise. We get enough promotional flyers on board, why not ones for the Luggage Valet service?

If we want it back, we all need to badger Celebrity about it and tell them to to promote it if they do.

I was told by a cc rep I spoke with last week that each December there is a bigwig meeting where they re-examine business decisions made in the last year and look forward to the coming year's decisions. She suggested that I write (again) to celebrityonetouch@celebrity.com and express my opinion, which I have done. I suggest to all of you to do the same as well as write an old fashioned snail mail letter to celebrity before Dec. I've seen a lot of you have experienced what we did on our February cruise. Almost no mention of the program. We had to ask about it. One small blurb in the daily on the day of the deadline. I suspect that at that point the decision had already been made to halt the program. In cruises previous to that there was always a separate sign up sheet left in each stateroom explaining the program on multiple days before the deadline. So...call and write. It's sad that after a lovely vacation they now have chosen to let us walk off the ship into the luggage corral with a stampede of fellow hassled passengers. No way to get our airline boarding passes, and the left to stand in more lines.

What was the approximate cost of this feature?

Sent from my SM-G903W using Forums mobile app

It's was $20 per passenger plus the airline baggage fees. Luggage was put out the last light with a special tag. You received your boarding pass on board. Passengers went to the airport with only their carry on (no more claiming it in the terminal) and saw your bags again in your home airport luggage carousel after your flight.

I pick a later flight just to ensure I can take advantage of this service. I am on the Equinox right now and was disappointed to find out it was cancelled. Like you folks, I have always had to ask about it.

When I booked my flights with Choice Air for our December Eclipse cruise, I specifically asked what time our flights needed to be to take advantage of LV and booked later than I otherwise would have. Either the Choice Air people didn't know or care to share that the program had already been cancelled. Of course they were non refundable flights, and can't be changed without substantial penalty.

I have emailed X 3 days ago - no respond - BIG SURPRISE!;)

When I first learned few months ago that X stopped this service - it took 2 weeks for them to email back with " it was corporate decision" .

I do agree that X did very little promotion for Luggage Valet Service. I seemed that Guest Relations didn't want the hassle with printing tags and boarding passes. But, what bugs me is that Royal Caribbean is still offering this service for $25 fee and Celebrity is not.

I really appreciate the convenience of the luggage valet. We will be cruising again on Silhouette in March 2017, with a son who is disabled and unable to carry his own luggage. It's really tough for the two of us to maneuver 3 large suitcases, plus carryons and miscellaneous items. I'm trying to lighten our load. I would rather have the option of paying more than not have the service. I emailed them today.

Holland America has service and it is great. We have used it on our last 7 cruises with HAL. It is a shame that Celebrity does not have available.

@RkbMr73 Princess has it, too, and they promote it by making announcements when it's time to sign up. I'm thinking about trying HAL for a New England/Canada or Panama Canal cruise. Thanks for mentioning they offer the luggage valet.

So, I have my answer back from Celebrity. They have no plans to offer this service in the future. I guess we'll contact special services and request a wheelchair escort off the ship for my son. We'll see how that goes.

Princess also leaves the form and informative printout about the service in the cabins.:).

RC offers this service and it is fantastic. The last night they deliver the special luggage tags and your next day's boarding pass to your cabin. I believe it was $20 but suites were free. Well worth it even for the charge. When you get to the airport you go directly to the gate. Your boarding pass is already preprinted. From setting out our luggage the last evening we didn't see it until the carousel at the Cincy airport. Wonderful. Regards, Gerry.
