Casino question

I have heard 2 different stories on how to get attention in the casino during the cruise and after. The first is that on the first night to sit down at the black jack table and cash in $500 for chips even if I don't play all $500 I would get noticed. The other story I heard is to go to the cage and charge $500 on my CC for chips each night of the cruise. At the end of the night turn the chips in for $$ even if I don't bet much they wouldn't know who I am cashing in but they have a record of me getting the chips. A friend stated that they did this and that shortly after they started seeing benefits like free drinks, a bottle of wine at dinner and that a couple months after the cruise they were offered a steeply discounted cruise. Does any of this make any sense?

Casinos on the ship work the same way as the ones on land for giving out comps, it's all a mathematical formal based off of what they call your "theoretical loss". They input your buy in, average bet, and time played into the formula to come up with an idea how much your predicted to lose, and then make up for that predicted loss through the drinks on us card, wine/champagne to the room, free/discounted future cruises.

Simply said a $500+ buy in will initially garner some attention from the pitt boss, but if you follow that big buy in up with $5 bets on the blackjack/roulette table and leave after 15 minutes they know your full of you know what. However, if your playing $25+ hands/spins and sit down for 3/4 hours expect to see some freebies coming your way.

Hope this makes sense and helps, good luck!

If your looking to get noticed in the casio I recommend the following:

Wear just your carnival robe and one flip-flop...have a cigarette in your mouth backwards...if you can acquire one of the helmet two beer holder gizmos do it...then bet $5,000.00 on 00 on the roulette table...turn and walk out before the ball drops. Works like a charm...comps galore.

Cheers, good luck and happy cruising.

I was in a land based casino this weekend. They told me there are chips within the chips you play with that when placed on a spot on the blackjack table is counted by a computer somehow. What they track is how much you put on the table to play not how much you buy in. I don't know if Carnival has this technology or not.

If you put $500 on your S&S card per day, they charge you 3% per week that's $105 for the week even if you pay all of it back. They track amount bet times number of hrs.played.If you play average bet of $15-$25 per bet for 3-4 hrs per day you will get noticed. Not win or loose ,but average bet and play.Another tip, always buy in at table with CASH! Don't take your chips from another table for buy in at another table.Cash is King! you will receive more comps using that style of play.Casino staff is on top of everything even though they look busy, there watching you like a hawk!

I can tell you that my husband and I are not 'high roller' gamblers by any stretch...but we have always been 'noticed' in the ship casinos.

We budget about $200/day for the casino and fully expect to lose all if it, every day. That's never happened...we have always just about ended even every cruise.

But we're there every day, a couple times a day. We'll buy in $100 at a blackjack table, play 10 hands, and cash out...maybe end the session even. Later in the day, with that same $100 we started the day with, we buy in again to the roulette table and play 10 spins, maybe now only cashing out $80. End of the evening, back in the casino with the $80 to play more blackjack and finish back at the $100.

Because of the way the casino is registering our initial bets, it 'looks' like we went into the casino to bet with $280 because that's the amount of actual cash we put on the tables...but it was only the $200 we started the day with.

So its not just the dollars you bring in, its the time you spend too. We also make sure we meet the casino host and make contact whenever we are there, even if its just a hello. We play in the blackjack tournaments (usually a $20 entry to play 7 hands) and have made every final table, won one tournament and came in second another.

We have been offered free cruises just on that type of play.

No, just the land casinos. They are looking for cheaters, not whales.

Tipping out the dealers is the fastest way to get noticed. Being an a$$ is also a way to get noticed but without any benefits so bring your manners and smiles, win or lose.

Our last 8 cruises have been free based on the players club and hubby in the casino. He only plays slots and does the max bet. Upon boarding the ship they give us both the drinks on us package (even tho I'm not in the players club). They typically comp one dinner a week. Send goodies to our room and definitely treat you well while playing.

When you buy in at a table the dealer asks for your sign and sail and they swipe it. They then key in the seating position at the table and your initial buy in amount. When you leave the table they clear the seat. The computer tracks your play and awards points. The machines track exactly the amount of money played and award points as well. The comps are based on point accrued. I think it was 1500 to get a drink card if I am not mistaken. I bet small, so I never came close to acquiring enough points for that, but I spent 2-3 hours a day in the casino and left with almost as much as I came with. I bet that even with paying for my own drinks, I still came out cheaper than if I had earned "comps"!:D

" Don't take your chips from another table for buy in at another table.Cash is King!"

seriously, so you get up from a cold table and walk over to the cashier? Why? It makes no sense, the new dealer will instantly see how many chips you have and treat it just like cash

I'll still be laughing tomorrow over this mental image. :)

Yes,the dealer will take your chips from a cold table and swipe your card but with cash you'll have the attention of the pit boss and I'm talking about black chips.5 Bens looks better than 5 black chips any day. Works for me,haven't paid more than port taxes on last 8 cruises. If you see a player buy in with 20's the latter part of the week, the only machine he has hit was the ATM.Good luck and good sailing !
