Rare John&LaLa Posted December 20, 2016 #27 Share Posted December 20, 2016 I would prefer to use the word "liberated" rather than "invaded". :D My doctor was one of the med students liberated. That's not the way he sees it. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Forums mobile app

Don't enjoy pushy touchy vendors . While Bermuda is probably my favorite island, it is not an entrant in this race. St. Maarten is favorite - so much that we now go for two weeks every January San Juan - lovely old Spanish colonial city Aruba and Curaçao for Dutch colonial flavor St. John for great beach at the bottom of my list are Jamaica for pushy locals, Nassau and St. Thomas for over-crowded commercialism and private islands generally. biker@sea Posted December 20, 2016 #35 Share Posted December 20, 2016 Sorry! My favorite Caribbean port isn't in the Caribbean It's in BERMUDA. :) :D We have been to a few Caribbean/Bahamas ports now and definitely have our favourites. Our list includes: Labadee Coco Cay St. Maarten St. Thomas St. Kitts Cozumel Falmouth Nassau San Juan Curacao I would say our favourite Ports with things to do close by are Labadee and St. Maarten. Our favourite excursions were Island tours on St. Kitts and St. Maarten. What are your favourite ports for walking distance things to do? and excursions? I'm especially interested in ports I've not been to, but welcome all responses.

Bonnie J. Posted December 21, 2016 #39 Share Posted December 21, 2016 Without a doubt, the San Blas Islands off the coast of Panama. The only way to get there is by ship or a 4 passenger plane. The Kuna Indians live here. There are no phones here and electricity is by generators. They come out to the ship in their hand dug canoes and you throw Quarters for them. They dive for the quarters or whatever you toss- mugs, apples, etc. Apples are a delicacy in the Caribbean as they only grow in colder climates. The TINY stiches on shirts and mulas are unbelievable that the women sew and sell. The island we were at is small and they have no plumbing either. But, few ships go there anymore. Our cruise was into the Panama Canal and we'd go back in a minute if we could! Any one else ever been there?

I have a Panama Canal cruise on my to-do list, but have had to look at other cruise lines because RC doesn't do them. NCL has a few that look intriguing, but I don't recall that island being on any of the routes I've seen. I will keep my eyes out.
