Kiwi Kruzer Posted January 18, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 18, 2017 Ovation of the Seas sailing past the Albatross Colony at Taiaroa Heads which is at the entrance to Port Chalmers , Dunedin NZ. She has arrived a day early to overnight and hopefully avoid a "weather bomb" that is predicted to unleash its fury this evening. Opua Kiwi Posted January 18, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 18, 2017 It's a balmy +10 tomorrow with windchill to +3. You'll be able to spot the locals; they'll be the ones in shorts and T shirt. If you're up on the turret of Larnach Castle tomorrow make sure you hang on to your hat.

macntosh Posted January 18, 2017 #9 Share Posted January 18, 2017 That weather has arrived I see, a nice day for staying in the bar. Alternatively, rather than going into Dunedin, just have lunch at the great pub at the next bay around from Port Chalmers. http://www.careysbayhotel.co.nz/ Enjoy. Colder than when we were there a couple of weeks ago... we have friends onboard and they have been commenting about the weather being a bit nasty today. Yep, I think we were very lucky on our cruise considering the one before ours was weather affected (itinerary changes) as well.
Kiwi_cruiser Posted January 19, 2017 #17 Share Posted January 19, 2017 Have just seen Seven Seas Voyager passing the city, will Ovation be leaving on time? At 8:31pm NZDT (6:31pm NSW) time, Ovation is still docked, but Celebrity Solstice has just left her berth. Seven Seas Voyager is just waiting outside the heads for space in the port to come in! Seven Seas Voyager is just waiting outside the heads for space in the port to come in! Or for the pilot. Pilot takes Solstice out, comes in with Voyager and then takes the Ovation out. Ovation due out after nine now.
