Hello all,

New to Cruise Critic as I'm looking for suggestions on possibly finding a roundtrip transatlantic cruise from NYC/NJ to Iceland and back to NYC/NJ.

Do those cruises exist and if so what cruise line do you recommend?

Looking to go between July and August.

Thanks!

You may find a cruise that stops in Iceland coming or going Transatlantic in the Spring or Fall but not returning to the US (no Iceland r/t)

Nothing stopping in Iceland in July/Aug that I know of.

Contact a good Cruise Specialist TA for options.

Holland America does have such a cruise. However, it is probably longer than what you want. It is known as The Voyage of the Vikings. The month long cruise is from New York (sometimes Boston) and sails r/t to Europe, stopping in Iceland in both directions.

We would add, that according to several reliable HAL sources, the Voyage of the Vikings is the most popular itinerary of all HAL cruises. This year it is a 38 day cruise and priced quite high (like every year). The Voyage of the Vikings departs and returns to Boston (Black Falcon Cruise Terminal) which has been the home port (for this cruise) for the past several years.

If you truly are trying to visit Iceland by sea, without any flights, I want to challenge you to think outside the box. Summer and Fall, Queen Mary 2 does 7 day TA's to/from Southampton. The HAL cruses are also sold in two segments, to/from Copenhagen. It's possible you could do the crossing one way and pick up the cruise the other. But there are other options coming from Europe. In August/Sept, into October there are other ships doing repo cruises back to the US, and many seem to be stopping in Iceland. So, my challenge to you is to go to http://www.cruisetimetables.com and choose Reykjavik, Iceland as a Port of Call, and look at the cruises in Aug/Sept/Oct that are coming from Europe. It will show you who they are and their itineraries. Try to match them with the QM2 crossings. You may find yourself with a few days in Europe to relax and explore... Another tool is this listing of TA cruises:

If this truly is a bucket list thing, you will find a way. EM

Thank you for this link. Really, really, really, thank you. I am now hooked on TAs and cannot do the Carnival Horizon in 2018 because my daughter will be graduating from college during the cruise. So now I am figuring out what other TAs I want to try. :D

That Horizon TA offers a rather unique opportunity for those who would like to cruise to Europe and back without flying internationally. It is so early in the season that one could do an eastbound TA and catch the Horizon back. the only thing holding me back from working it out is that we are not pool people - now in our 70s. One of the things we anticipate on longer cruises are the enrichment lecturers, and on our other Carnival TA (Dream 2009) there were non to fill the many sea days. EM

Can someone point me in the right direction on this cruise? Particularly a cruise that would go to Europe to take the Horizon back?
