There's a 'Disney-esque' performance of song and dance in the Piazza

 

 

 

 

I'm so glad I made it to this service. Was wonderful and packed with many nationalities. Really joyful and spiritual.

People have been complaining for a long time that when you use the "app" you don't see post titles. Maybe with this website redesign they decided to eliminate them to solve the problem. [i don't know this, just guessing]

Was formal night tonight. Not that you'd know from the majority of those who opted out.

 

Here's what I'm doing in Puerto Montt tomorrow with a private tour arranged by a CC friend :

 

Itinerary:

1 - Puerto Montt (2 stops)

2 - Llanquihue Lake (1 stops)

3 - Green Lagoon (1 stop, approx. 20 min.) - Vicente Perez Rosales NP

4 - Then the group can choose which option is better:

option A: In good weather there's an optional trip up the slope of

Osorno volcano to a ski center located 1250 meters (8,700 feet) above

sea level.

From there you'll have a panoramic view of the whole region, including

Calbuco volcano and all of Lake Llanquihue. (Extra 15 USD per person;

2 more stops).

option B: If it is cloudy or people wish just to skip the ski center

on the volcano we go to Todos los Santos (Emerald) Lake (2 stops) -

5 - Petrohue Rapids or "Falls" (1 stop, approx. 40 min.) - Vicente

Perez Rosales NP

6 - Lunch (people have free choice of restaurant and meals, also we

can do just a short snack stop).

7 - Puerto Varas (1 stops - main square and crafts market)

8 - Puerto Montt, fish market Angelmo or directly to the port.

 

We pick up our passengers at the pier inside of the port.

 

Duration of this excursion is 5-8 hours - designed for cruise ship

timings. In case of delays with the tendering process we have to

shorten the tour to return on time to the port. The tour starts

immediately as all group comes ashore.

 

Will be happy if I never have to tender again.

I have been following along. We did the Santiago to BsAs cruise a few years ago and enjoyed it so you are bringing back memories. We will be boarding the Crown in 17 days for the cruise from BsAs to FLL. I hope the last days of your cruise are a lot of fun and thanks for taking us along.

Antarctica Landing Expedition

PUQ-150 Approximately 11 hours / From $3399.95

 

Your full-day tour begins as you board your chartered plane for the approximately 2.5-hour flight to Villa Las Estrellas, a ChileanAntarctic settlement. After take-off, you'll enjoy a light continental breakfast and a welcome glass of champagne or juice.

 

Antarctica is the Earth's southernmost continent, encapsulating the South Pole. It's the fifth-largest continent in area after Asia, Africa, North America, and South America. About 98% of Antarctica is covered by ice that averages at least 1.0 miles in thickness. Its mountains cover such a significant area that it makes it on average the highest of the seven continents. In addition, it is also the windiest, coldest and less populated area on the planet.

 

Upon arriving in Antarctica, you'll tour the research center, one of the continent's oldest and most important meteorological stations.Weather permitting embark on a zodiac to Ardley Island, a marine protected area where Papua Penguin colonies live. PAINE NATIONAL PARK - Approximately 10 hours

 

Established in 1959, Paine National Park received Biosphere Reserve status from UNESCO in 1978. More than 30 miles of roads lead to lakes, ponds, rivers, and waterfalls. Framing the landscape are the imposing Paine Towers and Horns. The park's name comes from a Tehuelche word meaning pink, inspired by the park's multitude ravines. Your drive within the park offers incredible vistas. Across Nordenskjold Lake you have a view of the famous jagged spires, which grace numerous publications. Following lunch, proceed with your sightseeing drive to the Salto Grande Waterfall. Then continue to the Laguna Amarga before returning to Puerto Natales for the return flight to Punta Arenas.

 

Antarctic weather conditions are demanding. Passengers should wear sturdy trekking shoes suitable for snow. The following

equipment is highly recommended:

* Two pairs of thin socks and two pairs of thick socks

* Long wool or polypropylene underpants

* Warm wool or pile pants

* Windproof Gore Tex pants

* Two wool or polypropylene undershirts

* Two thick undershirts

* Gore Tex winter parka

* Thin wool gloves and thick, ski-type gloves or mittens

* A scarf, snood, or cowl

* Ear muffs

* Ski hat

* Sunglasses

* Ski glasses

The following guidelines have been adopted by all members of the International Association of Antarctic Tour Operators.

1 - Do not disturb, harass or interfere with the wildlife.

2 - Do not walk on or otherwise damage the fragile plants.

3 - Do not interfere with protected areas or scientific research.

4 - Historic huts may only be entered with authorized escort.

5 - Do not smoke during your visit to Antarctica.

6 - Stay with your group or with one of your guides.

7 - Leave nothing behind; take only memories and photographs.

Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed.

Bring all needed medications and toiletries, sun protection, still and video cameras, film, batteries and binoculars.

Tour requires that the ship's call be at least 12 hours in length and that there are a minimum number of passengers booked to operate.

Motorcoach transportation may not be air-conditioned.
