jsvarp Posted February 1, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2017 We're sailing on the Breeze soon and wondering where a good location is to view potential pier runners for sailaway?? Please no negatives, I enjoy people watching..... Sent from my SM-G928V using Forums mobile app

BallFour4 Posted February 1, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2017 (edited) We like lido balcony cabins, so we cheer from there. The best place other than that is on the deck where Guest Services and Shore Excursions are located. That open deck outside allows your "Run Forrest" efforts to reach your audience. . DebJ14 Posted February 1, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 1, 2017 We usually get a balcony on the port side, but none were available on deck 12 when we booked the Breeze, so we took a starboard side balcony. We were disappointed that we would not be able to see our ship's runners from our balcony. However, in Cozumel we had a great view of the runners headed to the Dream. There were several people who were 30 minutes late. 2 gangways had been pulled and ropes were slack when they finally showed up to the cheers and jeer of those on both the Breeze and the Dream. A&Jfamily Posted February 1, 2017 #10 Share Posted February 1, 2017 My balcony! :) While praying that unforeseen circumstances never, ever place me in that position! I really feel for those people because you don't know what caused their delay. If it is too much alcohol and passing out in the sun, I have zero sympathy. If it is because your shore excursion transportation broke down, then yikes!

Port of Tampa Posted February 1, 2017 #12 Share Posted February 1, 2017 We prefer port side balcony upper decks 6+. Got a new pair of binoculars and that makes it even more enjoyable. Cheers and happy cruising!
Budget Queen Posted February 1, 2017 #13 Share Posted February 1, 2017 For me the "lido" is a poor location. My preference is the lower open deck- was deck 3 on my recent Glory and Splendor cruises.

Purvis1231 Posted February 2, 2017 #18 Share Posted February 2, 2017 I too have never seen a pier run. Thank goodness the cruise lines make every effort not to leave anyone.
Rare Banditswife Posted February 2, 2017 #19 Share Posted February 2, 2017 Lots of pier runner watching going on from Lido. Pay close attention in Cozumel, which seems to be pier runner's favorite.
sailor05 Posted February 2, 2017 #20 Share Posted February 2, 2017 Pay close attention in Cozumel, which seems to be pier runner's favorite. My favorite port to watch. Senor Frogs, Hooter's and Fat Tuesday's all being right there all play a big role I'm sure! :D
tonit964 Posted February 2, 2017 #21 Share Posted February 2, 2017 Funny, our first and only pier runners was in Ketchikan Alaska of all places and it was men shopping with their bags in hand that came running!!
amydresh Posted February 2, 2017 #22 Share Posted February 2, 2017 We were on deck 11, starboard side in Jamaica and saw quite a few. One poor old lady stumbled and fell in slow motion and laid there for quite awhile before she finally got up. We felt so badly for her, tons of crew had run out to help her. 216Cruiser Posted February 2, 2017 #23 Share Posted February 2, 2017 Just find the lowest outside public area on that side and enjoy. Our last time in Cozumel we had several super-drunk folks that were way late. It was...entertaining haha.
jgh1204 Posted February 2, 2017 #24 Share Posted February 2, 2017 My wife and I were pier walkers one time in Jamaica. Our very first cruise, first port, she dislocated her shoulder at Dunns River Falls. Luckily we had purchased insurance and it was a Carnival excursion as she was taken to a doctor's office where they popped it back in. Carnival had a taxi waiting for us and we raced back to the ship. We were an hour late getting back. We were cheered as we walked up to the ship.
