So...Why Do You Choose Cruising For Your Vacation Dollars?

I am a self-proclaimed cruise addict with over 25+ NCL cruises and a few others. While I have a few friends and relatives who really enjoy cruising most have never even tried it.

So I got to thinking - why do I choose cruising over other vacation alternatives?

I would say that to me a cruise is awesome (any cruise, anywhere) because it is a vacation where we can get away from it all, not have to worry about the cost of every meal, etc., see lots of different places and only have to unpack once).

What are your reasons?

I love at sea days. The people you meet and the ability to do whatever you want, not having to have a DD, being able to do multiple activities in one night.

That is especially true when traveling with others. Everyone can do their own thing and then meet back up. I also love going by myself. It is so fun and relaxing at the same time.

The cost is also a no brainer. I could not do a week at the beach for what I spend on a cruise. Lets not forget having your meals cooked and your room cleaned and then turned down at night.

I travel a lot of different ways. I find a cruise allows for a very easy/simple vacation compared to say when I go to Europe for a couple weeks which requires trains, hotels, guide, etc. If NCL wasn't offering alcohol all-inclusive I would probably cruise less.

The first few times I cruised, I liked getting a little sample of some islands so I could figure out where I wanted to visit for a land trip. Since then, we just cruise because we like to be on the water. We still do lots of land trips too, since so little of the world can be visited from a ship.

I like the all inclusive, eating, drinking, entertainment and sleeping all in one place, I find the open seas to be tranquil and it relaxes me. There is always something to do or nothing to do if you just want to chill.

You said it perfectly. We are campers and spend about 5 weeks every summer exploring this amazing country in our camper. So when March breaks comes there is no better place to be than a comfy cruise ship.

Well, we are going to find out for ourselves! We have been loyal Disney fans every year as well as Wyndham Resorts owners. We have stayed at beautiful properties and spent $$$$$ at the mouse. Last December after a trip to Atlantis, our girls (12 and 14) want to see the world. We just booked a suite with large balcony on the NCL Getaway this December. I can't believe how affordable it is to cruise. Even with all the extra's and shore excursions, it is a lot less than a full blown Disney trip! This site have been awesome, it reminds me a lot of Dis boards. Happy to be here.

I cruise for the itineraries and value. I am very picky where I go so not loyal to any cruise line. I don't cruise just to "cruise". Add the nice price dumps with my late bookings, all the better. :) The world is small so I do a lot of land touring as well.

It is a cheap way to see much of the world, still haven't been to eastern Canada, the Baltic Sea, Asia or Australia. Probably will enjoy cruising as long as there are new ports, love the way everything is taken care of, not much of anything to coordinate, can be active or passive, my choice.

It's the cheapest (almost) all inclusive tropical vacation and I don't have to worry about driving while on vacation. Which means I can drink what I want, when I want and we still have all the entertainment and food choices.

As with any All-inclusive, almost everything is taken care of. Makes life awesome for a whole week. And you get to go somewhere that is different and just as beautiful as where you live. But most likely warmer. And that can be soul searchingly important sometimes. 😉 We all need a break.

1) I love the ocean and would spend all my days traveling by sea if I could.

2) I want to see the world and cruising is an affordable way to do it.

3) I like the convenience of cruising: I don't have to travel from place to place myself, I don't have to book separate hotels in each place, I don't have to pack and unpack, etc, etc.

I have priced out all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean and can not afford the prices. Especially when you add in plane fares. I can go on a cruise with NCL and be on the ocean, eat free, drink with the UBP, see good shows and play in the casino. See multiple islands and beaches also. WIN WIN WIN,

I have been a BIG fan of cruising since our first one 6 years ago . Since then we have been to Florida and a bunch of smaller jaunts but all our major trips have been cruises . And in 3 weeks we will be leaving for an all-inclusive . We had booked an excellent Celebrity cruise and cancelled the reservation . Why ? We ( OK , mostly DW ;) ) wanted to try something new . Also Canadian Winters are tough and Puerto Plata sounded Great . We'll let you know if we made a terrible terrible mistake . Please forgive us . :D

Wanted to add our AI should be about $ 2000 cheaper .

My husband HATES to fly and flights for 4 of us are expensive anyways... So this is our chance to go somewhere tropical without having to hop on a plane or drive for 2 days to get there 😄.

We actually went to an all inclusive a few years ago for a wedding and while it was nice and relaxing, we knew our kids would be bored if they came. There's a lot more to do on a cruise ship and the price is fantastic comparatively.

Well, I'm about to go on my 2nd cruise but one thing I like is they charge an arm and a leg for WiFi. Yes I love that because I'm a miser and I'm looking forward to a whole week of no cell phones, social media, and being with family and everyone's faces are looking at their phones. I love everything else about a cruise also. Food, fun people, fruity drinks, relaxing, music etc etc

Reason #1 for us is that DH's work phone doesn't work at sea. Other than that DH likes to dive, kids like the ship. I like mostly AI without alcohol. We have looked at land AI's but we don't drink so that isn't a good deal.

Cruising is just a part of the equation for us. What I like most about cruising is the serenity of being on a beautiful ocean, although sometimes the ocean doesn’t cooperate. But we also enjoy land trips just as much. Last year we took two cruises, one all-inclusive trip to Puerto Vallarta, and during the rest of the summer we travelled the U.S. in our RV. We just enjoy travel.
