Rare LACruiser88 Posted February 20, 2017 #2 Share Posted February 20, 2017 It varies quite a bit depending on the passengers. With over 500 sea days, we rarely get invited on Los Angeles based cruises. On international based itineraries we make the cut about 50% of the time. rkmw Posted February 20, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 20, 2017 How many Cruise days do you need to have before you are invited to the most traveled luncheon? Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app it depends on the cruise and how many elites are onboard, on some cruises you need over 400 days to get an invite and some others it might be 150 days
5fathom Posted February 20, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 20, 2017 We have 250+ days and have been invited twice, both times in Alaska and they were not luncheons but special Cocktail parties.
Astro Flyer Posted February 20, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 20, 2017 How many Cruise days do you need to have before you are invited to the most traveled luncheon? That varies on every cruise & even when making the cutoff for the MTP event it's been mostly an evening cocktail party for us. Five times on weeklong Alaska & CA Coastal cruises it was the party with our lowest number of days being 170 days many years ago. On our longer cruises when they're more likely to have a lunch the more we cruise the further away we get from being invited. ;) Recently we finally got invited to a MTP lunch on a 15-day Hawaii cruise with the cutoff being 370 days. I don't expect that to be routine but we finally got to enjoy an elusive MTP lunch. :)
Griller Posted February 20, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 20, 2017 Typically we find between 350 and 700 days on longer cruises when there is a lunch, some Captains don't have lunches however long the cruise though, just a cocktail party which isn't that good IMHO. It isn't a fixed number of days, its normally for 40 people, the 20 most travelled passengers on that cruise and their guests who may or not be most travelled, and who may or may not be their cabin-mates. If RSVP is not returned or passengers indicate they do not wish to attend the next most eligible will be invited. The cocktail parties can be slightly more flexible on numbers and sometimes other passengers are invited as well.
srpilo Posted February 20, 2017 #7 Share Posted February 20, 2017 Two weeks ago on the CB the cut off was 355 for the Cocktail party (no luncheon) Srpilo
DrivesLikeMario Posted February 20, 2017 #8 Share Posted February 20, 2017 We've been invited a couple of times now. It was pretty shocking to us because we have under 150 days onboard. Also got an invite to the bridge on one of the small ships (which was kinda neat) and to dine with the captain (which we declined). You just never know - it totally depends on how many high number Elites are onboard with you.
Bill B Posted February 20, 2017 #9 Share Posted February 20, 2017 It really depends on the itinerary. On an Alaska cruise, I was invited as 'Platinum' with only 12 cruises and just over 100 days. I'm now a newbie 'Elite' and haven't even come close since.
Colo Cruiser Posted February 20, 2017 #10 Share Posted February 20, 2017 Its different on every cruise. They take the top 40.
memoak Posted February 20, 2017 #11 Share Posted February 20, 2017 There are less elites on Alaska, Panama and Caribbean cruises - we almost always make the cut on those however on the TransAtlantic cruises we never make the cut since it seems that at least 30% of the ship are Elite. san diego sue Posted February 21, 2017 #12 Share Posted February 21, 2017 The longer the cruise, usually more Elites on board (especially the popular transatlantics. I didn't make it on a recent 19 day Panama Canal Rt LA cruise. Cutoff was so high. We had 521 days and didn't make it. We usually make it on Alaska cruises, Caribbean, and some Mexico cruises. It is up to the Captain whether he wants a cocktail party or luncheon (and if there is sea day that can accommodate a luncheon). Number of cruises don't count, it is only based on days.
