Barnkitty Posted May 29, 2018 #753 Share Posted May 29, 2018 1. Yes 2. Yes-unfortunately too many smokers try to sneak puffs in their room on or their balconies. I have had a suite or a balcony cabin for my last 12 cruises, and I can smell it wafting over the balcony dividers. If people just didn't try to cheat and smoke in non-smoking areas, it would be totally different. My friend owns a ServPro (Like it never happened), and he said there is a reason for non-smoking rooms to stay non-smoking, and it's more than emptying a few ashtrays. The smell, and the toxins from the smoke linger and settle into the upholstery, the curtains, the rugs etc. Should an ultra-sensitive person stay in a room where someone snuck a puff, they could become sick. My mother smoked 2 packs a day. My in-laws smoked 2 packs a day (each). When they passed, the amount of clean-up required to get the tars and nicotine (which is a toxin) off the walls and the paintings, and furniture was amazing-- there was a film no one had noticed on the windows, all the fabric things had to be destroyed. KarimaJ Posted May 29, 2018 #755 Share Posted May 29, 2018 Unless they drive drunk and kill someone. Or be totally obnoxious, annoying everyone around them. That’s probably the worst part and happens often. Or get into fights onboard flexing the beer muscles. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
boozeman13 Posted May 29, 2018 #756 Share Posted May 29, 2018 I guess so... the drunk moms at the pool bar with unlit cigarettes in their mouths are kinda trashy. Are you warming it up?
Happy2b@sea Posted May 29, 2018 #757 Share Posted May 29, 2018 Yes because I don't smoke, have asthma and don't want to breathe it in. That's why I enjoy the fresh, sea air.
Freckle53 Posted May 29, 2018 #758 Share Posted May 29, 2018 (edited) 1. Would you book one? Yes, if the price/itinerary/ship was what I wanted 2. Would you be willing to pay a premium to book a cruise that was 100% smoke-free? Nope Edited May 29, 2018 by Freckle53 formatting
Dreamsrsweeter Posted May 30, 2018 #759 Share Posted May 30, 2018 Yes I would definitely book a 100% nonsmoking ship. Would I pay extra? Depends on the actual ship and amenities and itinerary and length. I would think they wouldn't have a same exact class of ship doing the same exact itinerary out of the same port just 1 smoking and 1 nonsmoking, so the term paying a premium is subjective, especially since you "pay a premium" to sail on a nicer newer ship than an older ship typically. alibubba Posted May 30, 2018 #760 Share Posted May 30, 2018 Absolutely yes. Would think it would sell out right away. No. It should save the ship money on cleaning alone.

CruisinNewbie11 Posted May 30, 2018 #762 Share Posted May 30, 2018 I am a smoker who abides by the rules. I smoke only in designated areas. I will even ask the person next to me if they mind if I smoke even while in designated areas. I applaud those that are non smokers, but to be honest, I find those that those who don't smoke seem to be drawn to smoking areas. The ships are large enough for those who don't care for smoking to find areas where they can breathe. Smokers are limited to certain areas and from what I have seen, they stay within those boundaries.
karoo Posted May 31, 2018 #763 Share Posted May 31, 2018 Having just completed a cruise on the Breakaway where I felt I was living in a giant ash tray and had to avoid so many areas- unfortunately smoke doesn’t behave and invades so many areas- I would definitely choose a smoke free ship. Can’t believe in these enlightened times, where we know the dangers of passive smoke to non smokers they allow this to happen. A smoking casino???? How many countries still allow this??!! I’m not sure, but I know my country doesn’t and other passengers all commented their country and state doesn’t allow it either. NCL - so old fashioned, so I would have to state- YES- I would book a non smoking cruise. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
dogboy Posted May 31, 2018 #764 Share Posted May 31, 2018 Yes No Believe casinos keep the cost of cruise down. I say let them smoke in there.

I’ve been following another thread where a woman was actually defending her hubby’s right to smoke on their balcony, because he “works so hard”! And they had 3 children in their cabin! 😱 I found it hard to believe, in this day and age where most people have smartened up, and no longer smoke, there was someone out there with this way of thinking! I would DEFINITELY book a totally smoke free cruise! But should we pay more? No. I think cruise lines will save money not having to clean up after that nasty habit! There’s the argument out there that cruise lines would lose money because they think smokers gamble more. Well, they should open their eyes and realize there are far more non smokers than smokers who would begin to go into the casino to gamble if the air was now clear! DKane Posted May 31, 2018 #766 Share Posted May 31, 2018 I'd book in a heartbeat. Now that I'm a nonsmoker, I can't stand the smell of stale or fresh smoke.

Rare MaryBethV Posted May 31, 2018 #770 Share Posted May 31, 2018 Yes - (on the right ship - see below) No On our cruise earlier this month on the Getaway there were a number of public places we avoided due to smoke. The entire open area of 6/7/8, the starboard side of the Waterfront near the Sunset Bar, and Shanghai's noodle bar next to/practically IN the casino. In addition to that we encountered people smoking on the Waterfront in places that were not anywhere near the Sunset Bar, and we had to come in from enjoying our balcony at least 3 different times from people smoking on their balcony and it blowing back to our balcony. It was not an issue nearly to that degree on the Escape (no smoking on the Waterfront, did not encounter people smoking on their balcony or in unauthorized areas, etc.), and it appears that NCL has taken further steps to make it a non-issue on the Bliss. So would I book the Getaway or older NCL ship again? No. Would I book the Escape or newer NCL ship again. Yes!
marilla chris Posted June 3, 2018 #771 Share Posted June 3, 2018 yes no I think there are more non-smokers than smokers , so maybe they should pay extra to cruise on a ship that allows smoking.
cruiser123! Posted June 3, 2018 #772 Share Posted June 3, 2018 I wonder if NCL ever looked into having specific cruises be 100% non-smoking? If they did: 1. Would you book one? 2. Would you be willing to pay a premium to book a cruise that was 100% smoke-free? 1. Yes 2. No
Rare All-ready2cruise Posted June 3, 2018 #773 Share Posted June 3, 2018 1 Yes 2 No I believe that in the future, most lines will be non-smoking and the exception will be lines that allow smoking.
tgloersen Posted June 3, 2018 #774 Share Posted June 3, 2018 They should make a ship just for smokers call "SMOKE" LOL, than all the smokers can get on one ship. I personally would book on a "smokeless" ship.
