olya1972 Posted April 19, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2017 I am trying to prepay gratuities for our up-coming HAL cruise, but unable to figure out how to do so on HAL website either in MY ACCOUNT or CHECK-In sections. Is it possible to prepay on HAL? How? (We did it easily on NCL) Thank You.
jhannah Posted April 19, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2017 Go to your online account and buy yourself a gift of a shipboard credit. The link is under Gifts and Indulgences.
Krazy Kruizers Posted April 19, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 19, 2017 HAL doesn't have any way to prepay gratuities like Cunard and NCL. As mentioned you can purchase shipboard credit and then the gratuities will be taken out of that. Did you get any shipboard credit from any kind of a source? Msrigby Posted April 19, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 19, 2017 Just call ship services. They can arrange this and pre pay unlimited laundry too. They will forward you an email confirmation. Easy as pie. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare ski ww Posted April 19, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2017 Thanks, I was also looking at how to do this for our up coming cruise this summer. Allan
Rare Hlitner Posted April 19, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 19, 2017 Shop around among a few major cruise agencies looking for a promotion that includes pre-paid gratuities. This may not help the OP on their already booked cruise...but it is a lesson for the future. Quite a few reputable cruise agencies include gratuities (often paid by the agency) in their bookings. This is especially true for higher categories (Oceanview +). But it never hurts to shop around...and it often pays off. Hank
olya1972 Posted April 20, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted April 20, 2017 Thank you all who replied. Hank, we book with different promotion this time (OBC and cheapest rate available at the time), no prepaid gratuities, but I am aware of that perk, received it few times. Thank You. Sue from Canada Posted April 20, 2017 #8 Share Posted April 20, 2017 Go to your online account and buy yourself a gift of a shipboard credit. The link is under Gifts and Indulgences. Jim, can I ask the Front Desk on the first day to deduct all my daily gratuities (is it $14/day) from my shipboard credits. I'm afraid it they don't I'll overspend on other items, like the slot machines:eek:

One of our favorite cruise agents usually offers several fares including a "lowest cost fare" that has no promos except for an OBC. Agree with the other poster that you can simply purchase gift on board credits in an amount sufficient to cover your gratuities. Bon Voyage :D

angelbearmom Posted March 22, 2023 #12 Share Posted March 22, 2023 Is this a new development? My mom and I are both doing the same cruise (circle Hawaii in April). She paid the prepay gratuities about a month ago. I remember seeing that option but when I wanted to do it I couldn't see the option.
