Tendering question to GSC on the Gem

Recommended Posts

You usually have to sign up to get an early number. If you aren't in any rush you can just get up and go off whenever.

I believe the numbers are just for the first hour or two. More about this here: http://cruisingisntjustforoldpeople.co.uk/2016/10/05/cruise-ship-tendering/

Hope that helps!

Reserve a clamshell at the Excursion Desk and it comes with priority tender.

This is definitely the best way to go. For around $40 you get the clamshell and priority tender, so you can then pick your spot on the beaches. We have used this several times.

The island offers very little shade. And the sun can be brutal. Get a clamshell while on board. Use the ticket to get on the tender. They use the large tenders from the island, so it takes 20+ minutes to fill the tender (not good if you get sea sick). Once on the island, the clam shell attendant will help set up a shell for you. Select one with the mesh ventilation panel in the back. The solid canvas clamshells get very hot and you could end up being a cooked clam.
