IRdoc Posted May 28, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2017 Traveling next summer on the new Symphony of the Seas in Europe for 7 night cruise. Inclined to go with a GS but its $2000 more for the two of us than a JS. Is it really worth the added cost?
renza Posted May 28, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 28, 2017 Not when it's so port intensive in my opinion. I too am going on symphony out of Rome next June. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

theredwoodguy Posted May 28, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 28, 2017 The only way it would be worth the additional cost is if you take FULL advantage of the Coastal Kitchen and Suite Lounge. We just stayed in GS on Harmony and loved the perks of both.
cb at sea Posted May 28, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 28, 2017 The only 'perk" of monetary value is the "free" drinks during cocktail hour....so if you think you'll spend less than $2000 on drinks, stick with the JS...lovely space and you save a bundle! wendychloecruiser Posted May 28, 2017 #8 Share Posted May 28, 2017 We upgraded to a GS on Harmony's maiden and will never do that again. TO US, the benefits in no way justified the cost but it may for you.
grapau27 Posted May 28, 2017 #9 Share Posted May 28, 2017 We always get a balcony or JS cabin for 2 of us which is big enough. When we brought mother in law we got a GS for the extra space.
IRdoc Posted May 29, 2017 Author #10 Share Posted May 29, 2017 thank you all. agree that its definitely a personal decision but think 2000 is a bit steep for cruise where most of the time you will be off the boat.
Coralc Posted May 29, 2017 #11 Share Posted May 29, 2017 New ships command premium prices. Unless $2000 is an insignificant cost to you, I would say no.
Norwich Cruiser Posted May 29, 2017 #12 Share Posted May 29, 2017 Personally I wouldn't pay that extra.
dasi11 Posted May 29, 2017 #13 Share Posted May 29, 2017 I love Coastal Kitchen. The food and service has always been great. Going in a Suite is a totally different experience.
papaflamingo Posted May 29, 2017 #14 Share Posted May 29, 2017 Keep in mind that in a JS you can go to Coastal Kitchen for Dinner. Just make reservations on board. As for the other perks, you can buy a Drink Package for a lot less than $2000. I've done a GS twice. Once was a 14 night Trans Atlantic. We had 9 days at sea so the extra room was fantastic. But it was only $800 total more than a JS for 2 on a 14 night. Pretty sweet deal.

lizmit Posted June 12, 2017 #16 Share Posted June 12, 2017 I was in a GS on Allure and it was incredible! You need to spend plenty of time in your cabin to make it worthwhile. Happy Sails! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
