Goofymom3 Posted June 16, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 16, 2017 Just wondering, has anyone just done Grand Cayman on there own? I would like some beach time, some wondering and maybe lunch at a small place near the sea. Is this possible?

Goofymom3 Posted June 16, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted June 16, 2017 Any ideas? Should we take a taxi? Places we shouldn't miss?
KBD1516 Posted June 16, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 16, 2017 Walk 2 or 3 blocks along the water from the dock. You can see restaurants that jut over the water. There are places you can get in the water Walk 5 or 6 blocks right along the water to curve around to Eden Rock. Restaurant and small beach. dexddd Posted June 16, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 16, 2017 We've been there before and done tours, walked around, but this time we are renting a car. They'll bring one to you downtown area or you can go to airport which is very close.
DirtyDawg Posted June 16, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 16, 2017 There is a place calledCabana Oceanside right next to the port. It is very nice. Next to it is Casanova's which is really good but I don't think it is open before dinner. As for beaches, avoid 7 Mile Beach. All the cruise line beach excursions go there (or it seems) and it can be incredibly crowded, both on the beach and in the restaurants. If you go past 7 Mile to the west there is a good beach at West Bay that is very nice and not too crowded. cb at sea Posted June 16, 2017 #8 Share Posted June 16, 2017 The local bus service is cheap and reliable! $2.50 pp. You can certainly do GC on your own! We always do!
Mountain Time Posted June 16, 2017 #9 Share Posted June 16, 2017 No, don't NOT go to Seven Mile Beach. There are several places up the beach that are not part of beac excursions. The Cemetery Beach is great! Take a bus from town and ask to be let off there. Also, some restaurants can pack a lunch for you to take. We go every two years since 1988 and stay up the beach so know the island very well. Enjoy. Sent from my iPad using Forums
