Joehult Posted July 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2017 This is the last night of a 7 night cruise, and the third night where sleep is likely not happening. Ended up with a front room on the eighth deck, and every other night the solarium has some private party and the bass guitars and drums just rattle the windows of the room. So I figured I'd stroll around the ship. The pool is obviously non stop noise, the casino is a casino, and the promenade is a constant party. All the noise then meets in Central Park in a union of chaos. So far the only area that is a little tolerable is the aqua theater thanks to the movies. You would think a ship this big there could at least be one place, preferably your own stateroom, a person could go to relax. Other than that, the cruise has been fine, Haiti and Jamaica I don't ever have to see again, but the Cozumel stop was probably the best stop I've ever experienced while on a cruise ship. sea shepherd Posted July 23, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 23, 2017 I had a Central Park balcony on Allure a thought it was very quite. I lived in NYC and thought for it to be like a real CP room, it needed sirens and horns to give it the real effect.
Rare OCSC Mike Posted July 23, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 23, 2017 Spent 14 nights on Oasis this summer and never found anywhere particularly noisy, especially Central Park. Central Park is usually peaceful with a lovely string duo (or similar act) playing. Our server at Giovanni's even offered to open the window by our table to let the music in. A nice touch to an already amazing meal. I do remember reading/hearing that the night club (Blaze) moves to the Solarium on two nights so that may have been that part of it. There are tons of places to relax IMO but you just classified a couple of them as noisy so not sure what to recommend. We found the Solarium (inside, outside, and laying out on the 2nd level on deck 16) quite relaxing and definitely enjoyed some short peaceful moments at night in Central Park. Paulxyz2004 Posted July 23, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 23, 2017 Never had a noice problem on Oasis and IME Central Park has always been a quiet place at all times of the day.
toxicfairy Posted July 23, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 23, 2017 When we were on Oasis it was quiet for as many people that are onboard. We never had a problem with noise in our cabin and our daughters had a Promenade room and never had issues with too much noise either. We were not so thrilled with the service on the ship just not the same as on a bit smaller ship so we won't do another mega ship. However we had a wonderful cruise! CRUISEFAN0001 Posted July 23, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 23, 2017 Welcome to Cruise Critic. First time I've ever heard someone say Central Park was noisy. Central Park noisy? Agree that is indeed puzzling...never heard Central Park as "noisy".

nelblu Posted July 23, 2017 #10 Share Posted July 23, 2017 We always stay in Central Park balcony on the 12th deck and other than the wonderful afternoon music emanating from the pool, the area is basically serene. I find a bit puzzling that you consider the Boardwalk area calmer than the CP as there is more stuff taking place there. If you think that the Oasis class ships are noisy, you should stay at a balcony cabin near the Centrum on the Brilliance class.
CRUISEFAN0001 Posted July 23, 2017 #11 Share Posted July 23, 2017 We love Haiti and Jamaica and couldn't care less if we ever go back to Cozumel. It appears different strokes for different folks still applies. Having been there a number of times now...our view is that Labadee & Falmouth are so-so at best... ...then there's Nassau...for which we don't even disembark anymore... Ery Posted July 23, 2017 #15 Share Posted July 23, 2017 We always stay in a Central Park balcony and have never found CP to be loud. Loved opening the balcony while getting ready for dinner and hearing the music. Then sitting with a glass of wine later and enjoying the peace Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Joehult Posted July 24, 2017 Author #16 Share Posted July 24, 2017 The noise is similar to living in an apartment, or college dorm, and the guy down the hall figures 1 in the morning is the perfect time to crank up the bass. You don't actually hear his music, you just get a low frequency thumping noise in your ear that even ear plugs cannot block out. Central Park is where all this noise converges. Obviously everyone has different levels of hearing, and most of the state rooms are likely better insulated than the one I was in, but it doesn't change the fact of why do they have a band on every deck, at all hours, and the few corners you think would be peaceful(like the schooner or champagne bar), they pipe in music and have speakers directly over every single table? As far as the ports, Haiti and Jamaica are walled gardens, but Haiti is the only stop where you don't have to spend money getting on a beach. Once you leave the cruiseport, Jamaica is just dirty, and finding sand is a half hour or more drive. They really could not have found a worst location for that port. But for whatever reason we had a lot of fun in Cozumel and playa del Carmen. Sorry for being negative, it's just the heat was nearly unbearable, and I didn't get a lot of sleep. Besides this cruise, I usually take carribean cruises in January and February, and this was my first experience with a ship this size, and I just have no desire to ever book another mega ship during the summer. PrincessBelle39 Posted July 24, 2017 #17 Share Posted July 24, 2017 We were in the Oasis late June in forward cabins 8150/8152. Not far from Central Park. I would think that the noise must be an exception. We found our cabins and Central Park to be the most peaceful areas. The Trellis Bar became our favourite stop as there were never more than a couple of people and it was so relaxing. The noisiest time we found was when the classical music played and again, it was light and relaxing. I would have been disappointed as well with exceptional noise there. cstimmons Posted July 24, 2017 #19 Share Posted July 24, 2017 Note to self, it's hot in July on a Caribbean cruise.Lol we did our first summer cruise 2 weeks ago and the heat was bad at times. Felt pretty dumb for not expecting it. Also we had a boardwalk balcony room, never again. Was way too noisy for us.
