Transatlantic Activities

We are looking at the Reflection transatlantic this October which has 7 sea days. What types of activities can we expect during this time? How is the entertainment at night with so many sea days?

Thanks -

Night entertainment is the same as any other cruise: some production shows, some guest entertainers (jugglers, comics, magicians, soloists, tribute bands).

day activities could be cooking demonstrations, galley tours, trivia games, pool games if its warm enough, name that tune games, guest speakers, hair style demonstrations, casino gambling lessons, art auctions, talks by the Chief Engineer or other Senior Officers about navigation, life at sea, environmental policies, watercolor classes, napkin folding demonstrations, dance classes, exercise classes, scavenger hunts, art tours, popup choir practice and performance, all sorts of things

Had four Beyond the Podium speakers on last Silhouette TA. Usually show films in the afternoon and some special entertainment in the Theater. Really so much to do that you need to make some choices of what to attend and what to miss.

Agree with previous two responses. We did the 2016 TA on Reflection. It was great! Never a dull moment.

Various guest speakers during the day on a variety of topics. My wife enjoyed them. As for me I got full use of my beverage package at the Sunset Bar. Best spot on the top deck during sea days.

There will also be countless activities organized by passengers. I recommend hoping the roll call for the TA.

Cheers

Tom

The 7 sea days on our Reflection transatlantic went by way too quickly for us. Those 7 days were so relaxing and we never were bored. We each read 4-5 books and also enjoyed many activities.

To keep the list going:

wine tastings, spirits tastings, mixology classes, Bingo, table tennis, tournaments between guests and officers/crew (such as bocce on the S class ships), casino tournaments, lunch at a specialty restaurant as one was often open for lunch on those days and all the usual sea day activities, some for a fee and some for free.

Yes, as Tom says, roll calls often organize additional sea day activities. The wonderful folks on my upcoming TA roll call have organized a book club, all sorts of card games, trivia, other games, a group dinner at Qsine, plus the usual slot pulls, cabin crawls, and sail-away party, etc.

Both TAs we've taken had a passenger choir that was directed by one of the production singers and the lead piano player for the orchestra. So fun. We rehearsed each sea day and presented at either the talent show on the last day or as a kind of flash mob during dinner time in the atrium on the second to last or last night.

There are art classes. Fun. And you get your paints and brushes and paper for free. I ended up spending a good deal of time painting and made some new friends. And I'm NOT an artist. Enjoyed watching those who are. My little table of 5 kind of ended up hanging out some on the cruise, at least in the mornings.

The only time I ever did trivia was on the TA. We just sat in and did our own private game, we didn't actually participate in the group, but it was fun anyway, to see if we knew the answers. There were a lot of gung-ho people who were very competitive and came with iPhones to google answers and had notebooks of past cruise questions and answers. They were very excited to win a lanyard or Celebrity hat or other trinket. A little too much for me, so we just did our own thing as far as Trivia.

We did the wine tastings and teas and played cards and really just relaxed reading in the solarium or the relaxation room or our balcony. We went to a lot of the lectures and there were at least double or triple the amount that a regular cruise has.

What I especially love about Celebrity's sea days is there is plenty to do. If you want to. But no one is begging you around every corner to come join in, and no announcements are made to do so. You're treated like an adult and can make your own decision and very often our decision was to do absolutely nothing at all.

There's a thread on page 2 or 3 from tweetylori that has the daily newsletters scanned from October 2016's Transatlantic.

We were on the eastbound one on April 2016, there was always so much to do. The ship offered a lot, plus various people on the roll call had games, crafts, language classes that it was impossible to fit it all in.

We may have been on the same TA. Good presentations, poor scheduling that left little time e.g. for a snack between presentation B and presentation C on the days that A and B and C and D were all scheduled. I particularly enjoyed the discussions of the art work on board. The presenter gave us homework assignments to do between sessions. Hokey but fun.

Agree that it was over scheduled. Saw the Art Historian before and he is excellent. I enjoyed the marine Biologist and found him to be exceptional.
