We decorate for Halloween/Xmas etc.

No tape as it damages the surface's.

There are hangers/hooks etc that don't leave any residue.

The doors and walls are also metal so you can use magnets too.

Yes - we do it all the time and leave the stuff for the crew to decorate their room(s). Doors are magnetic (as are the inside walls) - as noted, don't use tape! You can often hang something on the mail/name holder too. Also, you can place lights on the balcony - but make sure they are battery operated.

Doors are not magnetic but are metal so you can use magnets

I don't know what sort of tape others are using but the blue painters tape removes completely when I take it off.

Adhesives that leave mark on door, including interior walls, should be avoided

If you use tape, test it first to see if it damages the door. I haven't had any problems with tape damaging our doors. The cabin stewards, after all, use tape for the celebration posters and balloons.
